You can definitely find useful lineman with day 2 picks. Maybe not a LT level prospect, but that's all that'll be off the table without a 1st round pick.

There's also "equity."
What I mean by this is when a team as whole does better (assuming they do better), other teams want a piece of it. Individual player values go up.
If a team does really well, the values go up more.
And if Smith and Mack create enough havoc that someone else ends up putting up career statistics, the equity can be even more.

The Bears are a young and upcoming team, that is ostensibly on rookie contracts as a whole. They could afford this, and it helps make them a motherfucking contender butch.

LOL, excellent response! And yes, the price of course was steep, but not quite as bad as the early rumors had it. Obviously we'll miss not having those two 1st rounders and we've previously surrendered next year's 2nd to acquire Miller. Hey look at it this way, at least we won't have to worry about checking out the expected high draft choices on all those mock drafts.
