follow the colts model

you simply make sure you have the 1st pick when the 'can't miss' guy comes along.......repeat as necessary

one thing each team is in control of :......losses
and...no one will care you went 1-15 for a season or 2

How is it the Polen dude and I are the only ones who know this. This game is more simple than people realize.

ok bubbas......have at me

Didnt work so good when they drafted Jeff George. I like Luck, always have but I doubt most teams would trade their players for the Colts players.

I'm pretty sure about 25-28 teams would trade their situation with the Colts situation. They have their franchise quarterback in place, they are winning in a season that should be a complete rebuilding year, they replaced all their old talent with young players and cap flexibility and they're poised for success for the next decade. Yeah some of the guys on the team aren't very good, but this is temporary. When they reinvented themselves with Luck, they were probably looking at a three year rebuild. I'd say they're ahead of schedule.

Just forget about it. If we ever got there someone from Pittsburgh would just cheap-shot our franchise player again. We're the Bengals, know your damn role.

This. Even if the Colts hadn't started revamping the rest of their roster, their roster would still be gold with Luck. Over the following couple of years, everything else would slowly fall into place anyways.

Off the top of my head these team would never trade their team for the Colts.

Saints
Falcons
Bucs
Panthers (ya even them)
Niners
Seahawks
Bears
Packers
Lions
Giants
Redskins

And that is just in the NFC, granted there are more teams in the AFC that would make this trade.

25-28 teams is a little high. And no, the Bucs wouldn't. Josh Freeman is tearing it up and Doug Martin is amazing. They have a solid line and some young defenders. I wouldn't if I were them.

The Bucs and Seahawks being on that list is laughable. You're right about many of the other teams though. However, that's only because some have potential at QB (Redskins, Panthers, Lions). But the Colts will have a much much greater chance to win a SB, so while those teams wouldn't do the trade, it wouldn't be to their benefit.

5 years down the road, several of those other teams would wish they had done the trade.
