Get into the 80 win range then make the splash next offseason to make a run.

Perfect because if we make a run we will have plenty of bucks to go over the top next offseason. Now we just have to not suck...

Nope, it's on. Wild card for sure IMO, outside shot at division this year...only Twins any good. The window is now open, exactly according to plan (3 year rebuild). Probably a playoff team next 3-4 years, hopes fully they get another ring.

No one saw 2005 coming.

The 2005 White Sox followed years of at or above .500 baseball. Their jump in wins would be dwarfed by our current team jumping into the 90 win range. Not even close to similar. The Yankees had a better offseason than us on one player alone and were already over 20 games better. Perspective. Don’t be stupidly unrealistic.

That we were going to sign 2 B-C level pitchers in this FA crop was given.

Wait. Why am I eating ass? Been calling Keuchel for months now.

Here’s the next guarantee. One of two things is going to happen in 2020:

We still stink and win 7X games or less and it gets ugly.

Or...(crosses fingers)...

We get into the 8X win range and if a superstar mega player that fits our squad next offseason becomes available, Jerry pays out that big contract we’ve all been scoffing about.

Interestingly enough, I think the chances of winning our division are better than grabbing a WC spot. The A's and Rays won 97 & 96 games respectively, and those turned out to be the two WC records. It's quite possible that it won't take 96 wins again to sneak in, but it's likely that the bottom number will still be somewhere around or north of 90.

I hope you're right that we're in the postseason next year. Altho I wasn't hanging on this board when the rebuild began, I originally had the same timeframe as you. But '18 was such a disaster, I believe it set the Sox back at least one additional year on the timetable. So I'm going with a winning season this year, but falling short of any WC spot. Let's see if the Twins and Indians can fall back enough for the Good Guys to snatch the Central. So far, it doesn't look like there will much of a dropoff, if any, from the Twins. The Indians could be a different story, especially if the oft-rumored Lindor trade goes thru.

I wonder if Keuchel is shaking his head a bit and maybe even a touch upset with Boras. Here Ryu gets a 4/80 contract with the Jays. Same age and even tho Ryu had what many would consider a much better season in '19, his injury history makes for a much riskier signing. Not to mention that he'll now be pitching in a new, better hitting league for the first time in his career. Should be interesting how these two fare in the coming seasons.
