Only a 3 point game with 11 minutes left. Columbia hanging around. Im sure the 10 to 1 fouls in the second half in favor of Kentucky isnt helping LOL.. Home cooking!! Love it. Ill still call UK by 20.

This here is my problem with UK. They have massive talent. So much size and the defense is great. But that offense is so sporadic. They really need to keep growing by March to win 6 straight.

They definitely go through extended dry spells on offense. Their D is so shut down though that most of the time it isnt going to hurt them. Now if they end up playing a team that can shoot it really well that has a good night from the outside the Cats could be in trouble though.

Yup, they are probably the most athletic overall team out there, but they just don't have great shooters. This is what we saw last year, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised. Great shooting is something that either shows up right away or not at all. I kinda like seeming games like this. At least we know they're human.

UK is a long way away from being a "good" offensive team. Even when they dominated Kansas, it was based on their ability to block shots, disrupt the flow of offense and push the ball.

Cal talked about having the ability to get them for two or three weeks coming up during Christmas break where they're going to focus a lot on their offense - during the break, they don't have to worry about class, or class work and only focus on basketball 24/7... so basically, it will be like going to North Carolina but just for a shorter period of time. :nutswing:

UKnation87, that's exactly the first thought that came to my mind listening to Cal's postgame.:pound:

I thought going in Columbia would play a great game. UK was missing two key pieces in the back court in Ulis and Booker, there's no doubt they are looking forward to the upcoming stretch of three games against UNC, UCLA, and Louisville, a stretch if they come through clean, will leave them with a remaining schedule that will have them as double digit favorites in every game remaining except maybe at Florida. Columbia has good height, but most of all, good 3 point shooters, and their ball movement and shot making in the first half was really outstanding. UK is getting everyone's best shot, and there's no doubt Columbia played as well as they could play.

For me, there isn't an excuse worthy to cover the way they played last night. All joking aside, regardless of UK having 2 players out from the 2nd platoon, This should have been a 15 - 18 pt win at least in my opinion.

Now obviously, they weren't focused on the team on the court but still, they way Columbia played last night, they gave college basket the blueprint on how to beat this team. As long as UK's half-court O is broken, they're going to be very beatable.

I've said it already, UK will not go 40-0 this season but that isn't the main concern. Winning a National Title is and I believe (hope) they'll progress offensively as the season moves along.

kentucky could be an even better team if cal just committed to playing his top 7 a majority of minutes over the platoon system...

I think that's coming... I think Lee and Poythress will see less minutes by March, 8 man rotation

For a team that's predicted to do big things this year Kentucky really hasn't wowed me much this year, be interesting to see if they can get it together by the tournament.
