Saw a gleeful blurb in the blog of the Jackets beat writer that Niki Filatov has "Worn out his welcome again", but no detail or links or anything.

Tried to look through Ottawa papers online and found no traces of it. And we all know if there's a trace of controversy to be devoured, they find it.

You guys hear anything? I know he got demoted, but the way the Sens forwards are going, I doubt that the act of being sent down can be viewed as anything but natural selection. He's not the top choice to stay up now that Alfie is back.

Just curious what Portzline is yammering on about.

He went down initially with a great attitude.

Seems like he's changed his tune. We'll see what happens. Bingo hasn't won in 8 games so maybe he's not liking the losing.

I say make him honour his contract. The kid needs to learn the hard way. If he's patient he'll get his chances with the big club.

If he wants to bolt back to Russia after the year, good riddance.

Oh wow. I missed it.

Damn. What is wrong with that kid?

This could get fun to watch. Murray does have a history of smoothly handling prima-donna players telling him what to do.

Yeah, I don't know. He came in with a good attitude and it looked like he was willing to put in the time and effort. He had a decent camp and pre-season but didn't put up points. Same thing the first 2 games but then he was singled out by MacLean as a guy who wasn't giving it his all in practice along with Bobby Butler.

He was then sent down to Bingo, called back up and played 4th line minutes for 2 or 3 games and then sent back down again. Ever since then Bingo has been horrendous.

The kid just needs to be patient though. He needs to work hard and improve his defensive game. From what I saw in the pre-season...he has the talent. It's just that he doesn't want to work hard and that's a sure fire way to fail. He blamed Hitchcock for his failures before. This time he only has himself to blame.

At least Murray only gave up a 3rd rounder...

The rumoured guys were Redden, Spezza, Emery and McGrattan.

It was fairly common knowledge at some clubs in the market that Emery and Redden were into that. I never saw Redden ever look fucked up, but Ive seen Ray-Ray a couple of times looking pretty jacked.

For the most part I couldn't care less but when dudes are missing flights and practices like Emery was, it's a problem.

back to the original topic with this from CNJ beat writer Aaron Portzline on twitter

True story about Filatov, was just given clearance to share: One of his many previous coaches calls him into room with video guy for ...

... one-on-one film work, to show him instance where they want him to crash the net and get to rebounds, create scoring chances.

After four or five clips, Filatov steps back from the monitor, looks at the coaches and says, flatly: "Filly don't do rebounds."

Kypreos

The #Senators Nikita Filatov experiment is officially over this season. He's boarding a flight to join HC CSKA Moscow in the #KHL.

Filatov wants out; Sens say not so fast | Senators | Sports | Ottawa Sun

He's looking to go back to Russia. Murray acknowledged it today and it looks like his days might be numbered.

I was really hoping this kid could would grow as a player in the NHL once he was traded to a team that had the potential to give him some big minutes, but sadly it looks like he caught the entitlement bug. You have to earn your minutes, you have to compete. That's how you go from being a good player to a great player.

The kid just doesn't seem to get it. He didn't work hard enough in practice and so the coach sat him out. He has the skill to be a top line player but he feels like it should be given to him. I'll tell you now that he had as good of a chance in Ottawa as he'll ever get with the lack of forward depth and he blew it. Good riddance...

Same with the Jackets, when they drafted him there was a HUGE chance for him. Behind Nash, there was NO ONE up front.

Shame that he couldn't recognize a golden opportunity (or two), although I must admit I am a little relieved to learn that it wasn't just another case of the Jackets flubbing the situation.
