The rule will still be there next year.
The main thing that I want changed if the rule stays is if they review it and they deem it wasn't targeting then the penalty should be picked up.
Right now they review it to see if the player is ejected or not. Well if they reverse the ejection then doesn't that mean it was an ok hit? If so then why the 15 yard penalty for a simple legal hard hit? I know you can't review penalties but with something like this where you are already reviewing it automatically then that part has to change!!!!
I really don't mind the rule as long as they call it correctly. The hits that SJB had or Bradley Roby from the OSU/Iowa game never should have been called in the first place and both players should have stayed in their games. Hits like the one Eric Martin laid on that kick returner a year or two ago would be one to be penalized for.
If they actually call the legitimate targeting plays, I have no problem whatsoever, just don't make shit up. I think they have to keep the rule in place but they need to modify what they consider targeting.
I think there is good chance it gets changed or Goes away
The point you mention has been huge debate already
Second the consistency is a big question I've seen big hit with nothing then some ok hits and players are done for the day.
Get rid of the rule! It's football for heaven sake
It should be called both ways if they are gonna keep the fucked up rule. What happens when a RB dives over the line and hits a LB in the face? He gets a touchdown, hi-fives and a BJ from a cheerleader.
And then the cheerleader is the one taking the head pounding....
This shit is just getting out of hand.....nobody is safe anymore. Thee only solution I see is to nuke the planet

Don't be ridiculous! Only nuke China and most of the Middle East!
Kenny de-cleated a defenseless defensive player and got called ferrit, he's got a dog in the hunt here
A defenseless defensive player? Is that possible?
"Defenseless player" could quite possibly be my biggest pet peeve phrase in all of football.
Do they all wear pads? Do they all wear helmets? Are they between the white lines? Is there a play going on? Do they all know the game? The answer to all of those is yes!!!! He is not defenseless!!!!!!!
He may be careless for not paying attention but he sure as shit is not defenseless!!!!
