Cousins has made 12 starts in his career; some talent evaluators believe that it can take twice as many (or more) starts to figure out a quarterback's true identity. If Gruden sticks with Cousins, by season’s end, he'll have 25 starts on his resume. He’ll also be a free agent. At that point, an informed decision on his future can be made.

the above is what we should give him

1 Tom Brady, QB NE 96 133 72.2 1,112 8.36 52 9 0 6 119.6 371

He's gotta raise that qb rating. This is sorted by yards , not as important. What sticks out is 3 tds 4 ints. Overall, to soon to judge with only 12 starts

the point i was trying to make is the guy is a run of the mill starter at this point . that doesnt make him a bum and he has had about 1/2 the starts it takes to make a fair judgement

now people can see it as a lost cause early and they can be right and i will commend them on their keen eyesight but is it the right thing to do ?

there are a few standards i have that arent negotiable

one un named sources are questionable
two it take 3 years to get a feel for a draft pick
three you build the LOS then fill in the rest
four i support our qb until my guidelines are reached as well as draft picks
you build through the draft
a coach needs at least 3 years to work his program
people are accountable for their actions or lack of them

not everyone has those standards nor do they have to apply them but so you understand my frame of reference

Here's the real point. He may turn out to be just what he is today. But what real alternative do we have? We are not going to be going to the playoffs this year. Why not be sure, just like we did with RG3, that this guy can't grow out of this. We should know by the end of this season. Going to Colt is not a real alternative. If KC turns out to be a bust, then Colt might mean one or two more wins at best case (probably not). Still not enough. And we all know that Colt isn't the answer as a starter. So why don't we have a little patience and be sure about what we really have before we throw him to the rest of the league?

Here's another metric:

NFL Total Quarterback Rating - ESPN.com - Go.com

Wow...I didn't expect to see him that high to be honest. With all the talk of doom and gloom, you would think he was in the bottom three in the league. Notice a few names below him, recent contract extensions in the mega millions, and no talk of replacing them...even though they have been starting in the league for years.

Not great, but not horrible. But he has to improve over the course of the season or we need to look elsewhere

I don't think anybody believes differently than this except the ones that want to throw him out now.

I don't want to bench of Cousins now nor do I believe that there needs to be a set limit placed on how long he should start. I think the situation is fluid.

One thing though that would lead me to pull the trigger quicker on benching Cousins would be if he continues to miss on what appeared to be to be sure TD plays. If he hits on the bomb to Jackson in the Miami game and the 2 plays to Reed in the Giants game. The Skins still might not win those games, but I think their odds of winning those games would've been upped considerably.

Plainly stated, he needs to start hitting on those plays, not missing on them.
