Just traded away OV in fantasy...

I know we prob don't want this place overpopulated with fantasy trades, but also figured you guys aren't a bunch of assholes that care that much (minus IPW anyway).

I traded OV and Halak for Brad Richards and Howard. While I think OV will definitely break out of his current funk, I'm hanging at the last playoff spot and need help now. I also think Detroit will continue to be one of the best teams in hockey and like the insurance of Howard. While Halak has been really good this season, his team is a lot more inconsistent. In addition, I have St. Louis and Selanne at wing and we have to start a center. I have Pavelski, but he's the only decent center I have (I have Lecavalier, but he's injured), so when he's not playing well or not playing that many games, I am screwed.

Thoughts?

Buy low, sell high....at least in stocks, I don't do fantasy.

I assume that if you believe in "regression to the mean" with superstar producers however, now would be the time to go out and try to get him.

Ugh, I know. I just hate trading away one of the top two guys in the game. But I think needing help now is legit. This could come bite me in the ass come playoff time. Brad Richards has been so much more consistent as of late though.

I think I did too...I hate being the person that is selling low, but honestly, the piece that was attractive to me in this deal was Howard. Might turn out to be a "band-aid on a gunshot wound" type of situation, but we shall see.

I don't think the trade was that harsh to you; you still got two very good players. I just think the ceiling for OV is ridiculous. However, what I've also found (depending on what type of league you play in) a good goalie can win you more categories than a great forward.

I completely agree with you about OV's ceiling. Not a category league though...a head-to-head point league. I still think goalies are a big deal and as good as Halak has been, like I said, I like that Howard is reliable. I think this was the smart move for me currently...I really do...I just think OV will come roaring back a bit later and I may regret it.
