WOW... Easily the best female artist i have ever heard. The female artists I have heard- Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Kiesha, Nikki "gave me a fucking headache" Manaj, and that Lady Gaga are just awful. I don't like woman country artists at all.

I just listen to my IPOD, ESPN Radio and Opie and Anthony on Xm so I don't give myself headaches with regular radio crap.

But that Adele, damn she is talented.

Most pop music is total garbage (including everyone you listed), but she really is talented.

She has more musical talent in one verse than their whole careers. She just gets out and sings, no weird costumes, videos, or dance moves to cover up a average voice.

Saying Taylor swift has an average voice is being kind.

Female artists I have heard

Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Benatar, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Deborah Harry .... the list goes on and on.

Adele is good and probably the best in this desert of talent they call musicians today. But the best I've ever heard? Nah.

these represent most of the gals I listen to, and IMHO Adele fits right in the mold of them. Easily she is my favorite modern female vocalist.

As far as female pop singers go... I'm not a huge pop fan by any means, but check out Kimbra. Her music production is brilliant, and her voice is fucking awesome. But Adele is very good as well. Everything else you listed is garbage.

Please stop calling pop musicians "artists"

If they were artists they could write more than banal, fairly obvious lyrics. Sure, some may actually be good singers, or at least have good voices, but it's rare to see pop music with merit.

Well, compared to those "artists" who doesn't sound good?

Not to take anything away from Adele...

Is Adele even concidered pop? I think she much more closely fits in with Soul

she reminds me alot of Aretha Franklin and a bit of Billie Holliday.

If you want to see a damn good performance, go to youtube and search for Kimbra "Cameo Lover" live at Sing Sing. She has an amazing voice.

Yeah I was thinking I would place her more in a R&B. I didn't mean to take to take anything away from her in my earlier post. I love her songs. I just can't compare her to anything today and if compared to some of the artists of yesteryear she is good but likely not going to be the "best ever".

Also my wife and I were talking, there was a girl on AMerican Idol last season that sang Adeles song. She was a wonderful blues singer and came in 3rd place. Anyone know her name? I'd like to see if she has done anything.

Found her. Her name is Haley Reinhart and it looks like she has a cd coming out this spring.
