I saw something like this coming, but not McCown. He could be a solid vet backup on this system.

I don’t think this means the Kessler injury is worse than reported. But I think it says two things:

1. While Kessler hasn’t looked bad in limited preseason action, I think there are things to be concerned about in this system. The way he held the ball and had no anticipation of what was behind him on the play he was injured on....meh.

2. This preseason was going to decide a lot of things on Nate. And we really didn’t get to see it. There will need to be a #2 until Nate is 100. And even then...what if he is a horrid #2?

This move makes sense. It’s giving a little cap we have this year and doesn’t commit anything to the future. It’s crowded QB room at this point....but it won’t stay that way.

McCown is light years better than Kessler. Glad they went in this direction. We'll probably never hear of Kessler again. Nice guy though, but he just can't play.
