If he doesn't fumble for the touch back we would of been down by 12 with 9:30 left to play. Huge play of the game. It could of been a lot more interesting in the 4th qtr. Jones seems to be the "guy" for us. He started over Morris and played more than Morris. He has now fumbled twice in 2 games and if he gets just as much reps next week vs the Eagles does that mean Morris is done starting for us? It will be interesting to see how much Morris plays next week b/c Jones should be in Grudens dog house after last nights performance.

Was anyone else shocked that Morris basically never saw the field last night? It looks like Jones has taken the starting job despite the fumbles. Did they totally give up on Morris?

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion about Morris just yet. I see gruden using them both, splitting duties and keepin both fresh. If one has a hot hand one night, then they will get the lions share of the carries. But I will also say that jones has much better speed and can turn the corner, something Morris isn't really known for. But jones also runs more upright and can thus be pancaked easier, as we saw last night on that 3rd and short play where he got destroyed. You rarely see that happen to Morris.

The fumble play itself was a fluke last night. He went flying in the air and a rogue hand made contact with the ball forcing it out. Huge play though.

How effed up was that? Another half yard and he crosses the goal before he fumbles or if it goes straight out of bounds, its first and goal at the one. But not with the skins luck.. It has to go into the endzone first and then out of bounds. We sucked last night, but there was a slew of just unlucky breaks last night if the ball would have just bounced differently.

Very unlucky breaks last night. Two doinks that fall into NYG hands...one was the pick and the other was the Randle TD.

That fumble...you left the other option...it doesn't go out of bounds and one of the other two Skins picks it up.

I've thought Gruden had it in for Alf since last year. What's surprised me is how Darrel Young has been put on the shelf.

Matt Jones' running style is not conducive to be the one and only feature RB in an offense imo.

The last option would be a miracle on this team.

Too late to trade Ammo.......it should have been done this past off season when we would have gotten another pick or player. Remember the thread I created about this? Well I didn't and as part of my reasoning SM's declaration that he wanted bigger stronger players. Well, look at the RBs that he's drafted or were on teams that he was part of. No surprise that Jones got drafted here, he fits the bill.

I'm not sure that Morris has become the forgotten man......yet, it's a long season.

Gruden just said that ALf is the lead dog in the running game. Maybe Jones just went into the dog house.

I doubt Jones will be benched. He brings something to the run game that Alf doesn't. I would love to be able to keep Morris AND Jones long term. They are a nice 1-2 punch. We will see what the market looks like for Alf after the season.

Somewhat OT- But how about Thompson the other night? I thought he was really impressive in the passing game.

I simply do not understand play calling like this from Jay.

Thompson is the 3rd down receiving back. I don't think Alf is going to out snap Jones even if we have the lead. I have Morris in fantasy and he is killing me. I think you have to field trade offers for Morris. He is going to be way to expensive to sign in the off season. Plus Jones can be a do it all back where Morris is just one dimensional.

I saw the rationale to it, or at least think I do/did.

Alf picked up 6 yards on 1st dn and CT got 3 yards on 2nd dn. I think Gruden thought it was a damn good bet MJ picks up the 1st and maybe he'll bust one, but at worst. The Skins are working with 3 more downs after MJ's run. Wynn just made a bit of a man against boys play or guessed right, whatever, and put some stank on it with that tackle on Jones.

Another option - Thompson doesn't step out of bounds all on his own on the previous play and the Skins are a yard closer. With a 1st n goal instead of a 4th n one and there's more options available far as what play they run next. Which plays into the Skins being a team that if it wasn't for bad luck they wouldn't have any luck at all.

Maybe :noidea:

But if you are going with the 'hot hand' and supposedly using your 'lead dog', then why aren't you continuing to use Alf here? I could see the use of Chris or Jones as the 3rd down back in this scenario. But 3 RBs on one set of downs seems odd to me.

Yeah, put like that it does seem a bit much.
