Bridge gap QB = Baker he is cheaper (it does say for 2022)
hoping for the best in the next 4 or so years = Baker (we all know exactly who Jimmy G is)
Having Trent Dilfer's Raven style Defense = Jimmy G. (he will be careful with the ball) Let the Defense win for you.
If you dont have a top 3-5 defense. Go with Baker. :thumb:

Yeah Baker on the cheap is fine, nothing more. I fully expect Cleveland to be picking up a hefty portion of his contract if there is a trade. They just want him gone.

Cheap is good, but then would a extension be considered? That is something to worry about. I’d rather just ride with what the Seahawks have.

I'd hope we were smart enough to make Baker prove it this year before any thought of an extension. Especially when DK is a higher priority right now. Baker just has so little leverage to demand anything until he proves he can get healthy and perform. I don't mind giving him the chance, just hedge the bets!

They aren't going to trade for him and just sign him to an extension.

The Seahawks will wait to see what he does in their system. If he does well, they will re-sign him. If not, let him walk and draft a QB.

Seahawks already have two QBs that can’t win a SuperBowl for the Seahawks, we don’t need a third.

I am willing to say "RIGHT NOW" the Hawks don't have a QB that could win a "playoff" game. Heck might even say a "regular" season game lol.

What if you trade a 4th and pay 6M, and he shows he's not great but a decent starter and you all get a 4th comp pick when he leaves.

Or better, he plays lights out and is a top 10 QB for another 6 to 8 years.

I think some of you are looking at this the wrong way. Forget wins, forget playoffs, forget being a top 20 team this year. We are most likely out of all of those things. So who cares who the QB is? As long as we are going to suck, I at least want to have a bit of fun watching a guy that plays fun. Mayfield isn't a clutch QB and he's probably not going to the HOF, but he's entertaining to watch. "Fun to watch" is going to be good enough for me this year, and probably next year too.

Looking at this..

Let's roll with what we have. It's better for the future, knowing the QB class next year, and we have ammo if we want to switch or move up.

We trade. We are eating a bad contract and giving up some ammo for what?

A chance to win this year?

Gimme a break. Division is too tough

It depends on how much Cleveland pays of the contract, and what pick is sent. If Cleveland pays 8M and Seattle sends a 3rd, I'd say not a wise move, now if Cleveland pays 12M, and Seattle sends a 4th OR 5th, I say good move by to Seattle just to take a look at Baker.

You gotta remember as long as Baker isn't extended, a 2024 comp pick is almost a certainty.

Either guy is a step up for us right now, and either guy would win the starting job … I’d lean Baker, but Garop has done a respectful job for the 49rs in the playoffs…

Qb market is tough these days
Mayfield isn't wanted, and besides Seattle and Carolina there isn't much interest. Let alobe that interest is luke warm at best.

I think both teams want him, but only from the clearance rack.

Only because of Cleveland's situation. We can go around and around over this but the chance to preview a potential long term solve at qb is worth more than a 5th round pick.

It's the scenario that deflates his value.
