yeah I think this is a mistake for UCLA, while Washington State went out and got a great hire they went and got a former NFL coach :burt:

when do these teams learn that most of the NFL guys don't work out on the college level

don't know. the switch from NCAA/NFL and vice versa rarely works. More often then not it becomes a failure.

This is just a blah of a hire. no real excitement to this. So far this off season coaching carasouel Washington State has owned. Not another school that has a more exciting hire. I actually see the Cougs making a immediate step forward with their hire, so far with hte other schools i dont see that immediate impact, or even a chance to overcome the hump later on.

Meanwhile, Arizona State still does not have a coach. :L

there are a few good exciting hires

Leach to Washington State is obviously one

so is Meyer to Ohio State

and just recently both Ole Mrs and Illinois went with up and coming coaches which will provide some excitement.

This and Weiss to Kansas made no sense whatsoever.

It's like the ADs don't actually WANT to keep their jobs.

at least with Weiss going to Kansas people are actually talking about Kansas football now so there's at least one positive with that hire

True, but there won't be any WINS. And he didn't even tell Muschamp he was interviewing, let alone taking another job. Pure class.

Oh really...

"In the recent days, he was contacted about the job and we talked about it and he told me it was an opportunity he wanted to take," Muschamp said. "Any time, and our profession is no different than the business world, when you're able to take a step up, I support it.

"I asked him, I said, 'Is this something you're really interested in doing?' He said, 'Yeah, I want to talk to `em. If I wasn't interested, I would not talk,'" Muschamp said. "So I said, `I support you 100 percent if that's what you want to do. I think that's great.' Now, when guys make parallel moves, I don't necessarily agree with that. When guys can further their career, I think it's great."

Philip Fulmer was interviewing for the Kansas job and they took Weiss over Fulmer? Fulmer has a national title and went 152-52 the last time I checked. Weiss choked with more talent at Notre Dame. The local radio hosts were talking about that this week.
