I remember Jim Kyte more for his helmet than anything. I think he had hearing aids and his helmet was designed to protect them?

He couldn't hear fore checkers coming, had to look for reflections in the corner glass.
Tough way to play the game

I remember Kyte, but I had forgotten the deafness. Must have been tough to hear the whistle in a loud arena.

As for this little feud, let's just say they're both right and move on? :noidea:

I don't recall ever hearing his name.
BTW, I really do not think I ever heard of him. If so I cannot recall. After reading through the thread and the posts that came after, I do not want anyone thinking I was making a deaf joke. I wasn't.

Your clarification has fallen on deaf ears.

I don't think the league is any more or less hono(u)rable today than when Kyte played, I mean guys like Ken Linseman and Esa Tikkanen were getting under opponents skins and not backing it up with their fists when Kyte was playing. It probably just seems that way today with outlets such as twitter and youtube.

With your general sense of humour and this I'm starting to think that maybe you're not as old as you've suggested. Have you not talked to any of your contemporaries? Literally EVERYTHING is getting worse, hockey or otherwise.

My kids help keep me young, but I worry about if they are going to have the same opportunities that I did (mainly because of how expensive things have become).

/It's probably the reason why I'm going to keep working for as long as I can, as I feel it's my obligation to help them out as much as possible.
