Do Washington fans owe defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio an apology? After a sputtering start, the defense is the engine behind the Commanders’ recent 6-1 run that has Washington (7-5) looking like a real playoff contender.

I think he has turned it around and deserves kudos for that .

JDR has done an excellent job. The reason why we are 7-5 right now.

I would not say its been all roses this year. Weeks 1-4 were as shitty as it gets. The defense is playing with a different attitude and while JDR will get the credit for turning things around, it seems player leadership (Allen) has taken over and the level of play has risen. We are finally seeing 1 LB sets with an extra DB on the field in coverage. Last week Mayo was beaten like a rented mule and as we all know Mayo is awful. We are still lacking at that position. Kudos to the defense for playing up to their potential.

I think people, including myself, thought the defense was doing worse than it was in the beginning of the season. Upon closer examination, the defense was not nearly as bad as we were saying. Many of the points early in the season were from poor positions the offense put the defense in and the constant barrage of 3 and outs.

How good has the Washington Commanders defense been this season? They have allowed fewer than 250 passing yards in 9 straight games. In today's NFL, where it's a passing league, that's really impressive.
