Georgia gets a new logo, uniform adjustment | CoachingSearch.com
Georgia is the latest school to receive a new "brand identity" from Nike.
But unlike Arizona State or Oregon State, Georgia isn't making major aesthetic changes, just uniting all its sports teams under the same brand.
The "G" logo will remain the primary logo for athletics, as it has since the 1960s. There is a new secondary logo, which is a front-facing bulldog head. The typography of the letters and numbers also will be unified. The block numbers Georgia has been using have been replaced by numbers that are a little more curvy.
"We're excited about this program whose guidelines embrace the history and tradition of Georgia Athletics and positions the Georgia brand to reach a continually expanding and evolving audience," athletic director Greg McGarity said in a statement. "This program will also bring a more consistent look to our logos, uniforms, field markings, and other areas where our marks are displayed."
Below is the new bulldog logo, as well as an example of a new football uniform. This is a great example of not over-doing it, as many schools and apparel companies have been doing.
