James Anderson, who played last season with the Bears, signed with the Patriots today. Anderson was one of the best outside linebackers available. He played for the Panthers from 2006 to 2012 before signing with Chicago. He started all 16 games for the Bears last year. Mark Harrison was cut to make room for Anderson on the 90-man roster.

Pretty disappointed, I really wanted to see Harrison turn into a playmaker or at least a red zone threat.

Hopefully the 6'8" TE Jones can do that.

I was hoping we would get something out of Harrison as well. Maybe we sign Keller or Finley and hope they can contribute this season.

Harrison signed as an undrafted free agent last offseason, but he was placed on the non-football injury list after breaking his foot before the 2013 NFL draft. Harrison participated in organized team activities last week, but he didn’t appear to be at full health.
NESN.com can confirm MassLive.com’s report that Bill Belichick cut Harrison after he showed up late for an OTA.

You have to understand that BB can't fart around with these guys. Practice is at 9:00 AM and you don't show up until 9:30.......that's a problem. Most people trying to impress his boss would be there a half hour early and be working out while putting on his cup. All indications are that Harrison is a habitual tardy type person. I heard that this isn't the first time and that he was warned about before.

James Anderson appears to be the coverage linebacker many of us have been hoping for. With our greatly improved secondary and more pass rush, we are going to be hard to pass on when this defense gets it together. 3rd and long will no longer be a gimme.....

Harrison was never making the roster anyways. WR is all but locked in already at Amendola, Edelman, Dobson, Boyce, Thompkins, Lafell, Slater.

Barring an insane breakout from someone or injuries, that's pretty much set.

Amendola getting injured in pre-season leaves him at big risk for getting cut.....

Like most, feel like his skill set is pretty redundant anyway. Boyce, Edelman, LaFell, Thompkins, could all cover an Amendola loss. Gallon is right there as well.
Amendola would already be gone if his cap hit and guaranteed money would have been smaller.
Who knows though, He may have a healthy record setting year and earn that money.

The only reason Amendola was a probable lock in my mind is money. They eat some to cut him I think. I'm fine with him going if he does, though. It would open a spot for someone with more explosion hopefully.

IF Amendola does not get injured this year, he may prove to be a very valuable receiver. If he gets injured, we may just move on from the Amendola experiment.....
