Honors, you were known on the other board for your dizzying intellect and top notch math skills. No doubt there are thousands of lines of code (perhaps running on a Vax?) that generated the simulations that led to these indisputable conclusions. Can you share with us some of the figures of merit (chi squared, fishers exact,...) so that we may appreciate these findings?

I would think that the hardest states to create an FBS program
in would start with the 9 states that currently don't have an FBS
program...Delaware, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, N Hampshire
No Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Alaska.

Delaware, Maine, N Hamp, No Dak, S Dak and Montana have strong FCS schools, but most have declined moving up to FBS.
Rhode Island has a so-so FCS program. (I don't bother with the
Ivy League schools.) There isn't even a Div II school in Vermont
and Alaska has nobody playing. There's a reason for that.

This blanket statement needs qualifiers to better establish the validity of the posters assumptions. For instance, does he mean how hard it would be to establish an FBS program from scratch, or from an already-existing program at a lower level, such as FBS, Division II, etcetera.

The two hardest would be Alaska (no current collegiate FB programs, only a few high schools that play a limited schedule) & Vermont (no FB above the D-3 level, a rather small base for recruits).

Wyoming might be third worst. There's one FBS school there, no FCS schools, and I'm not sure about D-2 or D-3. Not a lot of talent to draw from in the high school ranks.

By the way, there is nothing "official" about your rankings. Did you just put down states in the order they came into your head? Probably the only things you got right was was listing Alaska as the hardest, and listing Florida as the easiest. Most of your other assertions are pure BS.

Why the hell would there be a desire to start a new FBS program? There are too damn many of 'em right now...including mine!

Come on. Who wouldn’t want to watch the annual University of Alaska fighting Salmon vs Texas El Paso every year? :pop2:
