I'm not sure what the big deal is:

    (1) He's coming off a major injury and there's no saying how good he'll be.
    (2) He's never been seen as a very hard worker so how soon will he get back?
    (3) He's been a locker room cancer more than once.
    (4) That injury is rougher on big men.
    (5) No one offered him a contract and it's a low risk possibly high reward for G.S.

I’m sure other teams would’ve been willing to sign him for 1 year 5 million if they knew Boogie would take it. Or did Boogie go out and say who will take me for 5 million and no one offered but GS?

I just don’t think the Warriors should be getting lauded as smarter than everyone when I doubt Boogie signs that same contract for anyone else.

Teams did pass on Boogie signing a similar deal. The Lakers were one of them.

The Warriors can afford the risk of signing him. If he doesn't work out or sits out the entire season, they're still heavy favorites to win the title.

Other teams can't take that gamble.

Well then it’s still not a case of “the warriors just being smarter than everyone else” that I keep hearing.

Plus I know Boogie is coming off the Achilles injury, but a 1 year 5 mil contract hardly seems like a big risk for a 27 and 12 player. Unless you absolutely hate his lockeroom presence, which could be the case.

With the injury he's got he's not a 27 and 12 player any more. He'd be closer to 12 and 7 if he's lucky.

Still not a bad deal for $5m though

Too bad for Boogie, he could he sidelined the entire season AND still get a ring. The point is, he should have taken the deal the Pelicans offered him halfway through the season. But as long as he gets a ring. If he comes back healthy he can get a big payday next season

Maybe in previous front office moves but not in this specific instance.

Dr J had a game that few that have ever played the game knew anything about. People should listen when he speaks.

No one thought they could get him but they did. The other GMs out-smarted themselves. Knowing that there wasn't a huge market for an injured Center, they tried to slow roll him never imagining that the astute Warrior front office would swoop in and snap him up. That's why we hear all the sour grapes.

No. This is a thread on the absurdity of Irving's comment. Don't see another like it.

It certainly isn't. All they did was answer the phone and say "OK".

His regular season numbers will totally depend on his minutes.

He may average something like 12 and 7 if he averages under 22 minutes per game.

But, assuming Boogie gets his legs under him by season's end and that he buys in, I would
Expect his average line to look something like this:

    34 minutes
    15 points
    12 rebounds
    6 assists

I think he is ideally suited to be a facilitator from the elbow area and the top of the circle. His passing will play extremely well if used correctly. I do expect his scoring to take a big hit, but I think you are underestimating 2 things:

The Warrior ball movement and their ability to get everyone involved, and Boogie's skills.
