Seriously, sometimes I'd prefer to be out right tortured by Somalian Pirates.

Went into this season expecting a complete rebuilding effort for Marquette. Was prepared to get the doors blown off regularly.

But no. The goddamn basketball gods just have to let us lose 1 heart breaking road game in the final minute after the other :gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:
Only bright side, is the future looks gooooooooood. But I may not live to see that future :L

Then there is the Gophers who are just a complete debacle game after game with self destruction late in games

This sports is a true love/hate relationship for me lol

Yes, it's called College Football.

Although CBB is pretty gut wrenching too.

No way. College football has a more impactful blow because 1-2 losses can derail your season.

But college bball they can keep coming and coming and coming. And there is no KO punch til game 31 at the earliest.

College basketball isn't bad at all because regular season losses are so inconsequential. With 68 teams in the dance, if you don't make it, you know you weren't deserving to be among the nation's elite anyways. Of course the dance is stressful, but everyone knows it's chaotic and crap happens.

This year might be a little different, though considering the team that we have. If these guys lose, it's gonna be tough knowing that these guys are such great kids on and off the court. Especially considering how close they came last year, I think I'll be devastated if they come up short. Still, college football is a lot worse.

I have to give you props there. Last weekend's loss by the Packers was hard to take...even for me. And I didn't really care who won that game. But to watch it slip away like it did was rough.

I'm agreeing with you hockey. For me, the last five years have been a hell of a roller coaster. SU had some NC type teams, but everyone of them seemed to just fall apart for one reason or another.

You know any team can beat any team on a given night...but you just can't believe it happens when it does.

That's part of his point, I think. Hope can stay alive for a long time.

In football, you get put out of your misery quickly in 1 or 2 losses shot in the head. For the middle of the road teams in cbb its more of a long drawn out torturous death.

I misunderstood. I was gonna say soccer, because I feel like a part of me dies when I watch it.

I'm feeling a bit "soul crushed" myself after Houston dropped it's seventh consecutive game in conference play for the first time in school history at Cincinnati last night! Good news is that Danrad Knowles has shown enough that I am likely to have unrealistically high expectations again next year!

Being a Gophers fan in basketball and a Notre Dame fan in football, I can say two of the most times I've been crushed came at the hands of ND. 2005 vs. USC and this year against FSU. I was really crushed because at the times of those games if felt like ND had a shot to play for the title. With the Gophers, it's been the same shit over and over again. Close losses, blown leads down the stretch, TERRIBLE execution at the end of game situations. And of course there is always the February meltdown with the Gophers. Their record is 12-25 the last 5 February's. And the worst part is my expectations over this team increase going into B1G play because they usually have a good non conference. :gaah:

Yup this why point.

In college Football the first couple losses probably hurt more...but they are really the only ones.

You are left to bleed out on the pavement in bball.

Obviously if your team really sucks it doesn't mean much and if you are really good you get over it quick...but for many teams it just endless amounts of pain and suffering.

I'm a Suns fan so all the bullshit I went through from 2004-2010 makes them the most gut-wrenching. But on the same token UofA has had some heartbreaking losses in the tourney over the years. It's hard to decide which team has pissed me the fuck off more, but I'll go with Phoenix because at least UA has a ring.
