6-0, 1.35 ERA, 46.2 IP, 75 Ks, 9 BBs

Leads league in wins, ERA, IP, Ks, bWAR, and fWAR

I think it's an interesting year for pitchers. Small sample size so and restricted schedule means they will really be limited in quality of opponent. But Indians are 7-0 when he pitches and 12-12 when he doesn't.

Cy Young for sure...I think in this season particularly a dominating SP could win MVP. If he were to go like 11-0 with an ERA in the low 1's I think he would have a very good shot

Currently has the pitching Triple Crown. He would be the 20th pitcher in the MVP-era (1931-present) to win the award. Here's how the others fared in the MVP race:

2011 Justin Verlander: 1st
2011 Clayton Kershaw: 12th
2007 Jake Peavy: 7th
2006 Johan Santana: 6th
2002 Randy Johnson: 7th
1999 Pedro Martinez: 2nd :lm:
1998 Roger Clemens: 11th
1997 Roger Clemens: 10th
1985 Dwight Gooden: 4th
1972 Steve Carlton: 5th (the guy won 27 games for a Phillies team that won 59 total, amazing)
1966 Sandy Koufax: 2nd
1965 Sandy Koufax: 2nd
1963 Sandy Koufax: 1st

Cy Young Award established in 1956

1945 Hal Newhouser: 1st
1940 Bob Feller: 2nd
1939 Bucky Walters: 1st
1937 Lefty Gomez: 9th
1934 Lefty Gomez: 3rd
1931 Lefty Grove: 1st

Gonna be tough but I think a SP might have the advantage in this shortened season. Pedro got screwed...he still won All-Star MVP though lol. IRod won it...thought Pedro should have though.

Damn, didn't know he was doing that well. Wasn't he a rookie last year?

Last year was his first full season but he exceeded qualifications in 2018.

He would be on pace for 375K's...in comparison, that would be 3 more K's than Randy Johnson's career high in a season.

At this point I'd label him as a shoo-in for CY, and one of the leading candidates for MVP.
