Not wrong. For a sport that faces such extreme challenges and injury risks they are vastly underpaid compared to the revenue they bring in. It’s exactly why the NFL, NBA and MLB have unions to ensure that they’re getting their fair distribution.

I realize it’s insanely tough also for the UFC given that they’re taking risks acquiring unknown talent but I think there should really be a revenue sharing plan to raise the floor.

What I think the UFC should do is create their own “minor league” system. They could create events on like Thursday nights on Fight Pass. Those are the ones where the pay levels would reflect their talent. But once you make it to the Fight Nights or PPV cards the minimum payment should be raised. Some fighters are getting 10k show and 10k win bonus on cards and that’s crazy.

That’s not to mention what the headliners should be making.

It's tough, MMA was not bringing in near the money it is before White stepped in. Without him none of these fighters would be making even near what they are. Natural progression though, money was needed to stand it up, but now that it is profitable he needs to pay the people that make it so.

Exactly this. In the 80's and 90's the NBA players were paid a pittance of what they make today. That was in large part because of the revenue they generated. Once the major sponsors, endorsements and most importantly TV rights deals came into play the league salaries started to boom.

ESPN struggled to find a taker for their product for years until Fox made a deal with them. From there they signed a 750M deal with ESPN. Even Dana white estimated that the UFC is currently valued somewhere around 7 Billion (that number seems inflated but that's what he said). Now that their revenue is up the fighters are the ones who should be revisiting their contract situations and asking for more.

UFC fighters need a union to represent them.

Jake is an interesting guy. He makes a good point about UFC fighters being underpaid. Then he tries to have his opponents risk their money by gambling it away in a bet to him. Does he care about what UFC fighters make or not?

The sleeping McGregor chain donation was a classy move. I am still rooting for Woodley though.
