I think at this point our sole need is either another scorer on line 2, or another shutdown player on line 3. The pieces that we have could be shifted to accommodate whichever piece we end up getting.

I am curious to see what we get back for Bieksa. In the free agent pool, am am wondering if Kariya has anything left in the tank, and would come home for a very reasonable deal (can you believe he made $6m last year?).
Modin might fit that 3rd line bill. he was quite effective against Van in the playoff series.
Stempniak, Pisani, could also be worthy of a look for those roles.

Shero apparently wants a veteran winger. Looking at our roster, it should be someone that can play in the top 6 and will demand no more than $2.5 million. Preferably less.

I'd want...

Paul Kariya - probably way to expensive for the Pens, but he'd be a great fit.
Teemu Selanne - never gonna happen, but I can dream.
Bill Guerin - wouldn't be surprised at all if he's back. He's lost a step for sure. He isn't the ideal top six winger anymore, but he's a great locker room guy so I'd welcome him back next year.

The bottom tier guys like Madden and Niedermayer would likely bump Staal into a top six role. Some of those guys are centers, but we could make it work somehow. I think the Pens need one more forward to fill out the roster.

I'd also like to see a cheap 7th defenseman signed.
