Okay, this should probibly be posted on the Caps board, but no one reads my posts over there....

Jason Arnott has played five games with the Capitals. In those five games, Alex Semin has three goals, two assists and is a +5, often playing on a line with Arnott. So Thursday, 106.7 The Fan’s Holden Kushner asked Arnott if he said something to cause this change in Semin.

“You know what, I’ve talked to him a lot,” Arnott said. “I got to know a little bit about him just coming here from other guys, that he was a little different cat. He’s very very talented, but for me, I just don’t know if guys took the time enough to talk to him enough and make him feel a part of everything, and also get on him when he does things wrong. I think he needs the corrections and a little more discipline in his game, and he needs to know how important he is to this team to win. So it’s just little things. I’ve been talking to him every day, and communication between linemates, it just helps a lot.”

Then Mike Wise joked about Semin only understanding English when he likes the message.

“I think his English is just fine,” Arnott said. “There’s some things that he doesn’t understand here and there, but for the most part he communicates well. You just talk to him like a friend and like a teammate, and hopefully he has enough respect for you that he will listen and give his two cents as well....You can’t always be on him about everything. You’ve got to let him go. He’s a talented kid and a special player, and you’ve got to let him do his thing. He just needs a little guidance here and there, someone to talk to every day and have fun with.”

I'm liking Arnott more and more every day, and now, not just because of his play

That's what Arnott brings he's a very vocal guy and great leader.I don't think a lot of people realize the leadership he brings and the guy really wants to win.I was sad to see him go.

Yeah, getting Alexander Semin motivated is a very hard thing to do, and all it took was for Arnott to talk to him. I'll definately say that part of his game is very underrated!

Yeah I've noticed. He's big like a Knuble, but he still plays the point on the PP. As much as I miss Stecks, I'm really liking Arnott

read somewhere that the Devils thought Steckel was out of shape, was that true?

lol Lemaire at some point has called everyone out of shape. He called the whole team out of shape when he took over.so it wasn't a surprise that he called steckel out of shape.I think that's just lemaire normal thing.

He's been centering our fourth line was one of our best lines.Clarkson got bumped up to the third with the kids so steckel is in more of a defensive checking role at the moment.but lemaire changes lines up a lot.he also takes a lot of our important draws.

Faceoffs are his best attribute that he brings to the table. That and his PK work

the start of that article is eerily familiar hahah..

the one thing you would always hear about whether it be a tv interview, news articles, was how arnott (and usually elias) would talk to each other so much, and what made them so good together was the being hard on each other, holding each other accountable and letting it be known between the two when one was doing something wrong.

Interesting read. Thanks for posting. Seems like the additions have been great for the Caps, and with Philly stumbling late, this could be the year the Caps make a run.
