Just thought I'd srat a thread where anything Patriots that doesn't warrant a thread of it's own can be discussed or just thrown out trherefor thought. Remember, it's someone's opinion and may not be based in fact. Sort of like God. Some believe, some don't but to each his own....

Anyway............

I got thinking about why Gronk decided to retire because no one will probably ever know for sure and I have theory..................What if he went to see his back specialist to get a checkup before the spring OTAs begin? The doc says to him thtaif he wants to be able to walk upright when he's 39, he might to consider doing something else other than professional football. He's not going to tell the world that his doctor says he should give it up, he's telling us that he's making the decision. The I hear the name Jason Whitten. My brain starts to ponder why Whitten took a yar off completely and is now coming back to play for the Cowboys. Why? He had a good TV gig and has more money than is really necessary to live comfortably for the rest of his life, why come back? Because he gave his body a year to recover and get well. Now he's ready to play the game again.

Maybe Rob Gronkowski needs a year away from the hitting and being hit. Maybe a year's rest will allow his body to completely recover from 15 straight years of abuse. Maybe a year away will allow him to come back and play like the Gronk of 2012or 2013 for another five years and he'll destroy all of the recordfor TEs ever established.

Maybe he'll become a movie star like the Rock and never walk on the firldagain except to the cheers of fans who will always love who they think is the greatest ever to play the position.

So I ask myself the same question that a lot of people have probably asked themselves...........

Is Rob Gronkowski really done playing professional football?

He is done IMO. If he takes a year off I can't see him coming back and we damn sure need to act as if he is done, put him in after thought mode.

IMO, yes.

This guy has the personality for Hollywood...I can see him making millions selling stuff ala George Foreman, or being in movies.

Whether he was advised to shut it down, or totally made the decision on his own...good to see him walk away a winner and on his own terms instead of terms being dictated to him.

Can't fault him one way or the other.
Now that I have reached the age where old injuries bug me from time to time I'would stay retired.
That said I'v never been a pro athlete and have the drive to be one so I don't know.
I am grateful for what he has done for the team and wish him well in the future, no matter what he does.

He's still dating Camille Kostek, right? He'd be insane to go around smashing pron stars when he's got unlimited access to that.

Don't you think the same doctor said the same thing as he readied for the draft?

Yep. Need Gronk to hurry up and get that paperwork filed lol.

Could still look at reworks for Brady, Hightower, and/or DMcCourty to free up some space, too.

Personally, I think Gronk is done. I used to be heavy into martial arts and mountain biking and have sustained some injuries that were not as bad as Gronks but now that I'm in my late 40's are with me every single day. If Gronk got good advice from a trusted advisor I would imagine "retire now" was the advice he was given.

IMO, Witten is coming back to football because there was no way in fucking hell he wasn't getting fired from the booth. God, that guy was fucking horrible.

Do you think that there might be a difference between a 19 year old and a 29 year old? I don't know, I'm musing. Belichick nearly bit off a guy's head at breakfast this morning who asked about Gronk. Who knows what the hell is actually going on??

Ha... But it's pretty normal for BB to bite someones's head off and eat it for breakfast.

My previous post was being rhetorical. Gronk's always has been an injury concern since at least his sophomore year (give or take a year) and probably never should have played after his first surgery... He was just too good to not play.

I walked away in my prime and still I'm feeling the old injuries. There are plenty of old guys around telling Gronk that it's time - and why.

The possibilities are that Gronk will want to play the last 4 games this season - and could be an asset.
I hope that the Patriots tell him no.

This thread is a farce. I've been around too long to not recognize that nobody's opinion here is anything even close to humble.... Mine included.
