want the Broncos to draft a versatile offensive playmaker - like McCaffrey. A guy you could line up multiple ways without a huddle - presenting a threat the defense has to think about on every snap. For sentimental reasons I'd love to see McCaffrey in the slash role, but I hear there are others who can perform this way - like J. Peppers. It would take the pressure off a young QB to have this thread on every snap.

Pleased to have you on the wagon. I'm just glad we have 5 picks in the first three rounds I think that gives us options to take a "Swiss knife" threat early on.

We need a slot WR. Our 3rd leading receiver last year was Booker out of the backfield. Denver needs to stay on the field so on 3rd and 5 we need players that can catch and get you 6 yards and keep the chains moving. McCaffery has great balance and is working with former slot WRs on his craft. He seems to be the type of kids that you want in the slot. NE doesn't kill you with big plays except for the ones to Gronk. They kill you with moving the chains.

OJ Howard is looking like a top 15 pick. McCaffery makes a lot of sense as does the kid from Tenn or Ross from Washington.

Agreed they need a slot WR but if you don't have the o line for the QB to get the ball to him what is the use? O line is the number one priority and I for one am not on the McCaffery bandwagon. The Broncos need to beable to run the ball. He may be a solid player but I don't seem him being a game changer. Is it really worth taking a guy to me that will be a return guy that catches some 3rd down passes? You say that's how the Patriots move the chains and that's all true but Brady has the time to make those short throws and noone on the Broncos roster at QB as much as it pains me to say it is as good as Tom Brady. DL is a priority over a slot wr or 3rd down RB special teams guys. Just because his name is McCaffery I get how many get on the bandwagon. He also benefited running the ball well due to Stanford's o line. The bast I see from him is maybe James White that can return punts which is not worth that high of pick. I could be wrong but usually not to often. Peace.

McCaffery can line up as a RB - a slot or a wideout - he has also passed for TDS. He is as fast as blazes and maybe the best at using his blockers than any college kid I've seen.

Good point about the oline. The Broncos average 307 LBs per Olineman - the Raiders averaged 327 lbs per olinemen - that's the difference between a power running game and a zone running game.

McCaffery to the Broncos in any of the first 3 rounds would be a mistake IMHO

I dont know. Taking a Swiss Army Knife is like getting a jack of all trades, and master of none. Not to mention, Sewell, though one of my favorites, just never lived up to the hype.

I guess I'm still staying with BPA, since we still have a ridiculous amount of talent, and our needs can be met staying put or trading down.

I like the idea of down a lot more this year than years past.

I've been on this rant for YEARS welcome to the party :)

Doesn't seem like Denver is interested or creative enough to want draft that type of player (See Milburn Sewell both bombed). I'd expect Woodhead in FA over drafting McCaffrey.

I'm ok with trading down as well but, a DB will be hard for Denver to pass up at 20.

I'd like Elway to draft more modern but, he's still more 80/90's style of thinking on skill players. Can Joseph convience him to think different we'll see.

So I stole your idea - quit whining. Did the same thing a few years ago over team speed. You were tougher back then. ;)

For the record - I wasn't saying McCaffrey or the 20th slot in the draft - just agreeing that with a fast offense - you want to present as many problems for a defense to solve as you possibly can for each snap. Having a threat who can line up in multiple spots - catch or run the ball - is a big multiplier for that. McCoy had a guy like that in SD (in Danny Woodhead) and used the heck out of him. Booker might be that guy - under McCoy - I don't know.

I would love to see McCaffrey in a Broncos uniform but it's hard for me to see us picking him up in the first round. Gotta fill our trenches. Ultimately, I find it very hard to think about who to draft in the first couple of rounds until Free Agency is underway. If the Broncos can make a splash in FA, then the draft becomes much more about best player available and McCaffrey could fit that bill.

My guess between 20 and 40. I know that's a pretty wide range.

no that is not a bad range at all. Every 20 picks is a tier normally. He is a tier 2 player. I don't think I would use a first on him... given the fifth year option and its value would be better used elsewhere.

McCaffrey is gonna have to have an eye popping combine to go at or before Denver's pick at 20.

I am warming up to McCaffrey but looking at the draft, I see way too many other talented guys who could be available. With 5 picks in the first 100, we don't have to go by need. If a top 15 talent at edge rusher, cornerback, or safety falls to 20? Screw need, take the talent.
