Say for example, the Packers are 4-8 and out of the playoff picture, wouldn't they need to bench AR to let J Love play the rest of the year so they can see if he can be the guy moving forward or not? With the way things are going it seems like he could be gone either way.

Yes they can designate it post june spreading the hit over 2 years.

If they simply release him it's a 99.7M pre-june hit or a 75.3/24.4M 2023/24 cap hit

I don’t see them going to love any time soon. But by the same token I do t see Rodgers turning it around. But with all the money they got invested in Rodgers I wouldn’t move onto love either if I was Green Bay
