If Bartolo Colon doesn't get caught in 2013, what does it say about MLB PED testing?

Colon just finished a 50-game suspension for being stupid enough to get caught doping under the laughable testing protocols MLB has in place right now.

He was one of the only ones connected to Biogenesis who actually got caught through physical testing.

He's obviously still doping right under everybody's noses.

So, what will it say about MLB if he doesn't pop positive on a test this year, despite having to give extra samples as part of his punishment?

The designer strains that the Caribbeaners are on are almost impossible to test for. It's why Albert Pujols, Roidier Molina and Carlos Beltran have gotten away with it their whole careers.

lol hammer

i do agree with you that something fishy is going on there

but i think the lack of positive test results for the vast majority of Biogenesis guys who have been doping for years shows that it's a far-reaching problem.

It says that the testing isn't perfect and that there are ways around it, which will always be the case for the rest of time. The chemists creating the drugs are and always will be two steps ahead of the testing program. They create the drug, then someone else has to create a test for it, then the league has to get the players' association to allow them to use the new testing procedure.

But the fact he even got caught once shows the quality of MLB's testing program (no one in other sports get popped at all), and the fact that MLB went after other clients of the clinic without a positive test shows that MLB is taking the issue very seriously. Almost too seriously, actually, since they did some illegal shit in the course of their "investigation".

They're doing everything they can. If you think the punishments should be more severe, you're perfectly entitled to that opinion. But the testing program itself is the best in pro sports by a pretty sizeable margin.

This message is hidden because ImSmartherThanYou is on your ignore list.

Such a great feature.

Anyhooo.....it's going to be interesting to see if MLB (not to mention the MLBPA) really are interested in curbing PED use this offseason. They'll have to agree to a lot of changes to convince anybody with an IQ over 90 of it.

It's a shame you ignore me, since my post clearly outlined why it's silly and ignorant to think they aren't trying their best to curb PED use.

Well hate to tell you but MLB's best sucks!!

Maybe it it changes with a new commish. Trying to tell me that he has tried to "curb" PED use when he tunred a blind eye several times with known PED users bringing baseball back to the forefront with HR chases. Whatever, keep believing your own ignorance.

ImSmartherThanYou has some very "unique" opinions on PED usage in MLB, to say the least. :L
