Jay Feaster was on local Calgary radio last night and said the two parties were far apart concerning dollars. I'm thinking White will be in the 3 to 3.25 million range if it indeed goes before an arbitrator.

with almost every rfa basically signing a contract before their arbitration hearings ... it will kinda say something about Sutters tact and acumen as a negotiator if White goes to arbitration

In all honesty, I'd rather have White than Sarich (but Sarich has zero trade value). I think it is time to part ways with Robyn Regehr and that Sutter could package Regehr with a young prospect (maybe Nemisz) and get a top-6forward in return.

This would send the message that Jay-Bo is the big man on campus as far as the defense is concerned and hopefully elevate his game.

I want a do over.

The Flames should walk away from White and San Jose should sign him. :p

If the Flames walk away from White, then I may just have to walk away from rooting for the team...

you keep saying that.

you know that you have a home when you finally take that plunge.
hell, even your family will love you again :D

the Sutter: White analogy also works with the Hawks: Niemi
they just kind of passively watch the team crumble around them.

If it were a trade I was thinking a few picks and prospects, I doubt you are interested in a comination including Mitchell and Huskins, or Murray. Honestly if it has to be a top six guy it will be Clowe or Seto depending on who DWil values more.

I like the picks and prospects rout the best. Maybe one of the above mentioned three and a pick or prospect? I don't know, I am horrible at judging trade value, I thought Ehrhoff should have returned more than a bag of used pucks. ;)

slim, we're just going to have to wait-and-see what happens, but if the Flames walk away from White meanwhile Sarich is sitting there making 3.6 million for the next two seasons this may end up being the result...

Do you think that the Flames could move Sarich?

Sarich+Kotalik+your first born and a 2nd round pick for a bunch of AHL scrubs and a Islanders fitted baseball cap? :D

I want a real Isles fitted cap, not a knock-off...

look like Jay Feaster convinced Ian White to not go to arbitration ... 5 bucks short of 3 mill ... a moral victory for Sutter .. he can go out and treat all his brothers in the flames organization to a morning timmy ho's XL double double

According to the NHLPA, defenceman Ian White and the Calgary Flames have come to terms on a one-year, $2,999,995 contract. By doing so, the two sides avoided an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Friday morning

This is good news...Of course, this puts the Flamea almost $2.4 million over the cap (including Kotalik). More moves are coming :D

I'll bet Feaster or Sutter slipped him that $5 across the table anyways.
(do you validate parking?) :D

So if you do the math, White + Stajan = Phaneuf. Mayers is gone (UFA), but Hagman is still with the Flames.
