it's becoming more common for lower seeds (#3-#6) to get to and win the Super Bowl (they have won 6 of the last 8). The reason for this is the competitiveness of the league/parity. every year now, there are a lot of good teams that, if they get hot at the right time, can win 4 in a row pretty easily.

Back in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's, prior to the modern age of free agency, the league was extremly top heavy so it was more common for high seeds to just steamroll in the playoffs.

Understood...but even in today's era it's still harder to do since you're on the road the entire way. More often than not the SB champ is a division champ.

I think having a week off hurts more than helps. It's certainly been the case with the Ravens. I think the higher seeds have a better success rate simply because the higher seeds tend to be the better teams. I would be willing to bet that the higher seeds' success rate would be even higher if they didn't get a 1st round bye.

that's an interesting theory and it may actually be correct.

She hasn't changed the subject yet Sonny.

....yes, honey, I know I leave my socks on the floor in the bathroom but that's not what we're talking about right now.

All you did was prove your own ignorance....

Winning the SB from a WC slot is hard, which is why so few have done it. Winning it from the #6 slot even more so. It took until 2005 for it to happen.

THAT is what I said. Now, let us examine it...

WINNING the SB from a WC slot is hard, which is why so few teams have done it.

YOU, stupidly, threw in teams that made it TO the Super Bowl but didn't win it. Those don't count since I said WINNING the SB from a WC slot is hard.

See the difference?

"Which is why so few teams have done it".

These are the teams that have...

1980 Raiders

1997 Broncos

2000 Ravens

2005 Steelers

2007 Giants

2010 Packers

2012 Ravens

Now, pay attention....ALL the other SB's have been won by teams that finished as division champs, and were not WC teams.

So we see that, by comparison, SO FEW TEAMS HAVE WON AS A WC.

Ergo, I was right - and you were wrong.

Usually people argue opinions on this board.

I presented you with FACTS - that means you can look them up. You still say you're right. Therefore I've come to the following logical conclusion...

You either like to argue and therefore facts don't matter OR

You can't comprehend what you read.

From this moment on I wont even read what you post. It's a waste of my time. You made my short list of people to ignore because you're a troll - nothing more.

Once again, you, moronically, have failed again. All the years I listed, THE SUPER BOWL WINNER played in a WC game.....you know, the games played ON WILD CARD WEEKEND.

But for shits and giggles, let's use your deflection induced years. You say that it doesn't happen that ofter....and yet it's happened 5 times in the last 12 years and 6 times in the last 15 years. Do you consider just under 50% NOT THAT OFTEN.

Boom, you just got a little bit smarter than before.
