All week I'd been saying that the Chargers would get shredded by the Bengals.

I was wrong.

The SD did a great job on Dalton and co., frustrating them and forcing the turnovers. Rivers and co. played it close to the vest and let Cincy beat themselves through turnovers.

And, as a Steelers fan, I couldn't be happier about being wrong on this. If I tried, I would fail.

It's been since 1990 - so 23 years without a playoff win - and it will be at least 24.

I was wrong but I'm alllllll smiles!!!

The feeling is mutual here...

Another Dalton faceplant in the books. I'm still not sure whether to point the finger at Dalton or Marvin Lewis. Shitty play, but yet shitty playcalling :noidea:.

Seems like the team will be at a crossroads next season, AKA there will be a lot of pressure from their FO. Look for them to draft a QB to apply more pressure on Dalton because he definitely needs something like that.

My forecast: another repeat performance and Lewis' ship sets sail.

You gotta put a little blame on Gio for fumbling the ball away at the goal line......that was a huge game changer........

I was sure that the Charger's overly conservative approach to the close of the game would come back to bite them but I was wrong too.

I underestimated the Bengal's bungles.

good job stepping up to admit you were wrong. there were many that didn't give S.D. OR N.O. a chance this weekend.

Can't count out any scenario in January.

Meh... Not convinced. I've seen it before back in 2004 thank to Jerome Bettis.

Dalton fumbling untouched was the biggest fuck up of the game.

I was wrong too...but Dalton has always had that kind of game is his DNA...picked a bad time for it to come out but his OC didn't do him any favors...I really felt CIN was outcoached in this game...SD purposely ran a lot in the 1st half and shorten it...Parcells style only not as good, but effective. Then went no huddle in the 1st poss of the 3Q...also flipped the script on DEF...rushed 4 mostly in the 1st half...blitzed early, often and from different angles and the CIN OL could never figure it out.

Gruden...3Q...CIN ball 1st...3 and out , 3 passes, 2 from shotgun, 1 sack...punt. SD 1st poss...they go on huddle with a good run/pass mix confusing the CIN def and took the lead...14-10...Dalton played from the shotgun the rest of the snaps in this game, except maybe one...pretty much eliminating the playaction threat...is he THAT guy? No, even CIN fans know he's not...too much on his shoulders and he folded under it....keep in mind this started in the 3Q.

Thanks to the OP for the admission. You've got way more sack than that dbag Bengals fan that was running his mouth. I have to say I was a little surprised by how easily the Chargers won, but was disappointed that they only scored 6 points off 4 turnovers. They won't be able to afford issues like that in Denver.

True...they won't...I have to admit...great job of coaching by SD...the blitzing seemed to confuse the blocking scheme and totally disrupted what Dalton wanted to do...CIN never adjusted to it from what I could see.

Slight correction here....I'm a woman so I don't have a sack at all.

The Bengals had the turnovers...that one on the goal line from Bennard changed the game and then Andy's subsequents killed drives.

And, as usual, Marvin Lewis was lost in the sauce when it comes to adjusting game plans.

Let's not leave out Phillip Rivers. He's taken a lot of crap over the years - some even call him, "The Tony Romo of the AFC". Ouch.

Yesterday he was MONEY. 12\16 may not sound like much but most of those passes were when he was being blitzed. Finding he open man and getting him the ball when you're about to be hammered is tough. Hell, it's what caused the INT's on the part of Dalton. Rivers handled the pressure and got it done yesterday.

He also protected the ball rather well. No INT's - that's the key.

Dalton out passed him by a bunch....

29/51 for 334 yards and a TD, but he also had 2 INT's.

They had the same number of TD's, though.

San Diego did the 'RB by committee' thing yesterday with 3 backs going over 50 yards and no one breaking 100.

The Bengals put up a LOT of yards....27 total first downs compared to 16 for SD, they had 439 total yards. They moved the ball rather well until they turned it over or Andy simply didn't make his passes under pressure.

Final note: Denver has GOT to be a little concerned about facing them a third time.

Oops! Sorry about that. I'm sure you could take that clown though.

I've seen a lot of people blaming Bernard for that turnover, and yeah, he should have tucked it in quicker. But if you watch that play again Butler was beaten by a wide margin, closed before the goal line, and not only made the tackle, but punched the ball out beautifully. Hell of a play by Butler who should be getting way more attention for it.

Yeah, that was a terrific reaction. Bernard did not expect him to close like that.

Everybody always sleeps on Rivers and the Chargers, picked them from the get. Knew they would get the win.

Charger fans shouldn't go jumping up and down and throwing babies in the air just yet....they've still got to deal with the Broncos in Denver and if they win that, they'll have to face the winner of the Pats/Colts on the road...

THEN face the winner of the NFC.

Winning the SB from a WC slot is hard, which is why so few have done it. Winning it from the #6 slot even more so. It took until 2005 for it to happen.

Totally agree, and I don't think any Charger fan thinks they will breeze by anyone. I see it as playing with house money though. Yeah it will sting to lose and be knocked out, but we weren't supposed to be here to begin with. This team is already way beyond expectations.

Not saying that, but a lot of people counted them out early. They played well against the Broncos, it's not gonna be an easy game for them.
