I still have the same Roku I had when I started this thread. Is the YouTube app the one to use for YouTube TV or is their another app?

Bending these cable bastards over has probably added 3 more years to my life. Dealing with them on a monthly basis was about as bad as dealing with an ex-wife goldigger

    It's a separate app.

There are second generation apps coming out now that are HD quality. CKay TV, Live Planet, and many more. Seems like a new one every month. There are plenty of IPTV free lists too if you have a media player. I still recommend getting one of pay ones though as they re much more stable and have the tv guide.

YouTube TV been pretty easy to deal with? Thinking of trying them — they have a 2 week trial going

I have found it to be pretty good. I turned it off the summer and will probably resubscribe this fall and winter. You can record stuff if you want and you can add up to 3 or 4 other Google accounts to the subscription which is nice.

    Fuck them too!

There are a crap ton of IPTV services out there now. Many are standalone APKs now too (dont need Kodi or any media player). No DVR yet but every channel under the sun pretty much (including pay per view) in HD and only 10-25 per month. If you have Terrarium or like app you only need DVR for sporting events and specials. All TV shows are available 5 minutes after they air.

They've added at least 20 channels in the past six months alone. I have a feeling it's only a matter of time.

    Die! Die! DIE!

DirecTV lost about 650,000 subscribers in the fourth quarter, underscoring the big challenges facing the El Segundo-based pay-TV service. AT&T bought DirecTV in 2015 for about $50 billion. Last year, the company paid $85 billion for the parent company of HBO, CNN, TNT and TBS. Now AT&T is drowning in debt to the tune of more than $175 billion.

“DirecTV pays Viacom about $1 billion a year. That’s a lot of cash AT&T could use” for paying down debt, Bernstein & Co. media analyst Todd Juenger wrote Thursday in a research report.

Fucking monopolies! Our gov. sucks for letting this shit happen.
Viacom, AT&T reach deal that keeps Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central on DirecTV

Bye bye DirecTV. I'll be cutting you in July.

Everyone will be cutting soon. 5G is coming this year. Hopefully Sprint and T-mobile are allowed to do their joint venture or merger. They are not in the content business so they will be looking to take over the internet service business. That means no throttling of content and lower prices to obtain customers.

Over 3 years of streaming now and couldn’t be happier.

Life is good with no cable.

About to actually install an outdoor antenna here soon
