I think Dalton was the right pick

This Kapernick kid is a no-talent hack.

Thank god Jay didn't like the read option.

In hindsight it looks awful, but we all know if the bengals picked Kapernick, our brilliant coaches would have tried to make him a strictly pocket passer

Oh I know.... He'd be akili smith all over again.

But it's tough to watch this kid play football and not think about it.

That touchdown pass was amazing.

They're not the same player, but the setup reminds me a little but of the Steelers when Roethlisberger first came into the league. The defense and running game does most of the work, and the QB pulls out a handful of amazing plays each week to help them win the game

No doubt. It's a great situation. If Kaepernick isn't expected to win the game himself, he can play conservatively and pick his spots to impact the game. That's exactly what he does. Good comparison to Big Ben - Very similar situation.

Now let's see what the kid has when he's down 3 in the 4th quarter on the road in the championship!

against a fired up defense and deafening crowd noise.

Piece of cake

Andy Dalton runs the offense like he's a librarian trying to play football, we obviously reached for him a few rounds too early.

Kaep has a shot. 3.5 left, 3 timeouts, 2 minute warning. Needs 6 against the best D and best crowd in the league.

What's his winning % right now? Less than 10%? Less than 5%?

They're good, but that was a gift. He wasn't even under real pressure.

Yeah, it was a terrible play.

But there probably wasn't anyone open anywhere on the field.

I think the Seahawks have finally figured out a scheme to beat the NFL rules favoring the offense. hold on every play. I'm not being facetious. I expect other teams to adopt in the offseason. The only risk is a five yd penalty and automatic first down

Richard Sherman is one hell of a human. His family should be proud. Stanford should be proud.

well, now I feel like a total douche, apparently Dalton is better than Brees, Manning, Luck, Rogers and Brady.

Three years later

also, there is some inexpensive land for sale in Florida that may or may not be a little swampy, think I'm going to buy it without looking.

This was the worse piece of shit I have read from Hobspin in a while. get the fuck out of here. This kid would not even have these stats without AJ and that defense.

I am not defending this article, but...go back and look at the 1998 Colts roster. Manning had some help.

Marshall Faulk. May have heard of him. He only ran for 1300 yards and caught nearly 90 passes that year for 900 yards.

Marvin Harrison was also on that team.

The TE's combined for nealy 50 catches as well.

I'm not saying that AJ hasn't helped out Andy, because he clearly has, but Manning had some help as well. Plus, their OL has always been pretty good, if I remember correctly.

The part about the defense is 100%, though. Manning rarely received any help from his defense. Not like Andy did from this team.

The stats arc is very similar, but the expectation and skill set couldn't be more different. Manning's career arc was always expected to be higher because he had all the tools. Dalton doesn't. There is a reason that Manning was considered a #1 overall pick, and Dalton was a 2nd-3rd round guy.

Now, could Dalton surprise us all? Sure. It can happen. However, to only consider the first few years and then try and extrapolate that over the course of a career, especially compared to Manning, is silly because there is nothing in Andy's history that shows it can be done.

I saw a pretty interesting graphic that shows how Tebow is basically superior to Peyton Manning and John Elway.

stat magic is fun.

....

There you go man, Tebow and Dalton will soon be battling to see which one of them is will be the GOAT, the literal Michael frickin' Jordon of football.

buy your season tickets now, because you'll be trading those suckers in for solid gold bricks.
