Players get fined for not speaking to the media. Losing players and coaches who don't want to talk to the cameras are forced to do it. So why doesn't the league require the officials to come to the podium to explain certain key calls that they made? It may even benefit them. Today's pass interference that ended up not being a pass interference is one I'd like explained. Maybe the ref who ultimately convinced the others that it was a clean play could explain why he made that decision. I'd love to see them replay it on a screen behind him and have him walk us through why it was good non-call. Then maybe it would make sense to the average football fan. As it is now all that will be written about and all that will be talked about all week is that call.
If players and coaches need to explain their game I see no reason why refs can't do the same. They are as big of a part of the game as the players so lets hear their side after games.
