I am rewatching the game vs. Ohio State for the 6th time now (hey, blame BTN.....they be replayin it again ) and every time I watch it I notice some new instance of where Lavonte has taken over as a leader.
Now, just 2 weeks ago I ripped on Lavonte, Crick, and Dennard.......because they are All-Americans, and they weren't being leaders. Of those 3, Dennard has stepped up considerably and I have noticed in the way he acts around his teammates on the field. Lavonte, however, is perhaps the biggest leader on the team.
You watch this kid when he heads over to the sideline. It's one thing to make a play on the field, but it's his vocal leadership that suddenly came out of nowhere that is helping this team. You can make all the plays in the world, but leadership is required in order to create an overall feeling of confidence on the field. Lavonte did just that in the Ohio State game.
Watch this team moving forward............I will bet you guys anything our defense continues to get better and better, and at a faster pace. That 2nd half was more than just the offense making big plays.........the defense really stepped up. And it all started with Lavonte being the leader and the field general. Once he did this, other players began to step up as leaders......and soon you could tell the entire defense was confident.
I have a good feeling moving forward dudes..............a real good feeling.
