People are morons. I saw semi's overturned and in ditches. I saw cars that slammed into the back of others. I saw several people who managed to wreck in parking lots (how is this possible)???

2 poor bastards died yesterday too. Slow down, idiots. It's not that hard.

Agreed. Amazing how many people think that their cars are going to be just fine in the snow and zoom around. Especially those in trucks or that have 4WD/AWD thinking that they won't slide. A little tip: 4WD/AWD doesn't do a damn thing once you hit ice.

It's amazing, and unfortunately, sad as well.

I fish tailed twice on 75 yesterday. I calmly let off the gas and turned into the way my rear end was going.....fixed. I can see how one would panic in that situation, though.

The highways were much better around midnight than they were at noon even though they looked virtually the same.

I did a near 360 about 6 years ago on 275 during one storm. I looked around as I started sliding and realize that there was no one else around me, so I simply let off the gas, and let the car spin, as I was in the middle lane, and spinning but still going forward and not sideways. I stopped, and straightened out, and went on my way.

Thankfully, as I said, no other cars were around.

I did the same thing leaving Hollywood Casino about 6-7 years ago. It was raining pretty hard and it was 2am or so....complete 360. Scared the living shit out of me. Did my 720 and continued on...with a little pee in my shorts.

You think it's bad up there... try living in the South when ice and snow are rare events and every jackass with 4WD thinks they own the road... unreal.

Glad I grew up in shit weather and know how to drive in it. My dad took me out on I-75 when I was 16 and it was a damn ice storm and told me to go slow and never (as much as never can be said) hit the brakes... best lesson I ever learned.

People down here don't understand the left lane vs. right lane on the highway. It's mind boggling.

I live a little further north...by this time of the year, almost all of the dumb asses have ended up in ditches and have learned how to control their driving.

Stay safe out there. Hope everyone is ok in your families.

You'd think no one has ever driven in snow before. It only happens every year, after all. I know shit can happen even to the most seasoned and prepared, but damn, way too many idiots. I only go as fast as I feel comfortable with. Fuck those that get pissed I'm doing 10 miles or more under the limit. I might get where I'm going late, but I plan on getting there alive. That's why I like the back roads as much as possible. They may be in worse condition, but there are way less assholes using them. That and there is nothing worse than being stuck between two semis on shitty roads.

Drove home from BG one winter in a snow storm...Semi's passing me by, flying. I thought I was going to die.

Seriously. Thought I was dead.

Whats fun is having one of the largest Coast Guard stations in America, which happens to be in Alaska. Every year we get a big group of Coasties that transfer up from Florida....Talk about a fucking mess of wreckage and dumb ass driving. Some of them never do seem to learn!!!

I was pulling into our iced lot and some crazed Mexican began yelling at me about how slow I was pulling in. If I pull in to fast I go down the side ditch into the woods. Some people cant wait 2 fucking seconds. Anyway he sped off like a nutjob.

I live about 3 hours West of Cincy in Southern Indiana so we get similar snow fall here I would assume. Not enough for people to get good at driving in it but enough that they should know not to ignore it. People in trucks around here really think they are immune to snow and ice. They drive as if its a warm summer day and so you see tons of 4x4s stuck in ditches and in medians around here. I don't want people to get hurt but I find it funny when idiots like that end up calling a tow truck and waiting 6 hours for it to arrive.

I drive to Maine every year either at Thanksgiving or Christmas time.

This last Thanksgiving, the following weekend, we were coming home and I normally take the route through Worchester because it is cheaper on tolls, and it is nice driving through the city a little. However, this time, there was an ice storm, and of course, the most slippery areas are overpasses of little valleys that do not have good drainage. That is all city driving is, is overpasses basically. I decided to keep heading down 495 S until I got to 90W to avoid that kind of conditions. Right after I passed the exit ramp to Worchester, my mother-in-law called and informed us there was 75-90 car pileup in Worchester.

I have driven through Pennsylvania late at night in the mountains with snow, ice and fog driving 10 mph. Took forever to get there and was stressful, but I made it safe as I passed by car after car in the ditch. Thinking to myself, wonder if he thinks he was making good time now being stuck in a ditch?

Driven to Maine one year, decided to go through Canada. Went north into Toledo, they have zero drainage on 75 up in Toledo. Basically turns into an ice rink as the freezing rain comes down, it just sits between large concrete barriers. I don't even know how many cars were off the road, and I was going basically going 5 mphand was going to pull over to see if the car that just flipped over if the people were okay. I lightly tapped my breaks and went 90 degrees sideways. Steered through it and then of course, on Christmas Eve we wind up in Montreal where all the signs are covered in snow so you can't see them, and the ones that were not covered were in French. I drove in a loop in Montreal for 4 hours on Christmas Eve because the route to USA was completely covered in snow. Then it was down through the Maine forests that were basically one lane roads with snow banks on either side about 4 to 5 foot tall. Looked like a giant bobsledding course.

I have seen my share of weather driving, and some of those idiots who drive in it.

I remember driving through Pennsylvania one year with the weather turning brutally cold..... There was a ton of salt on the roads and just enough precipitation to stick to the windshield. Unfortunately the blue water (supposed to be washer fluid) froze up and all the salt was stuck to my windshield. Couldn't see a damn thing. Lucky I didn't end up in a ditch.

1) Farmington. My wife is from Farmington, and her mom lives there. She has a sister in Portand, a brother in New Sharon, and another brother in Frankfort. Along with another brother and sister in Farmington. She is the youngest of 9.

2) Yeah, I heard it got into the 100 area on the pileup. When she had called me, they were estimating at that time 75-90 cars piled up.

Yeah, been there done that. You have to wash them too, because the amount of salt on the roads basically turn your windshield white, and with snow coming down and fog, along with pitch dark conditions because the moon is waning to nothing by the end of the month...damn near impossible to see with regular lights or brights.
