Here's why. They could have taken an easy route like a lot of other P5 teams and schedule some weak ass OOC schedule and mix in some FCS teams. They have 4 OOC games this year and they could've all been easy wins, but no, they decided to schedule the #2 team in the country, Clemson. They challenged themselves and they held their own. They also played Alabama, the #1 team in the country and they moved the ball down the field and played pretty well. I feel like Texas A&M is a good program, I love how that program scheduled this year's games. They've schedule Clemson for next year as well, they've scheduled Miami for 2022 and 2023 and Notre Dame in 2024 and 2025. They are scheduling the way P5 teams should be scheduling. Play top teams. High risk, high reward. Their schedule this year is turning out to be one of the hardest. Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Auburn and LSU left on their schedule. I see you Texas A&M....I see you.

Might as well generate some excitement, it’s not like they won anything before they made the schedule tougher anyway

Texas A&M was the poster child of scheduling patsies for years.

Is this a sarcasm thread??

The SEC basically yelled at them to get their act together and start scheduling someone/anyone.

They did not schedule a single Power 5 team their first 3 years in the SEC with 4 OOC slots instead of 3.

7 seasons in the SEC (28 possible slots)

They scheduled:
Arizona State, UCLA, and Clemson (home games)
UCLA (road)

They are 2-2 but they are 2-2 because they played the top 2 teams in the country. They could've had an easy 3-0 start but no, they decided to get Clemson on the schedule. Gotta give them respect for challenging their team and their players. It almost worked out against Clemson.

These schedules are set at least 5 years in advance. Let’s see if things change now that dumbo is in town.

I'm talking about this year and the future. Their division schedule is already tough as it is with Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State. They play Georgia next year so next year, they play Clemson AND Georgia and possibly Alabama as well. The top 3 teams in the country right now. Feel bad for them but also respect them for their current and future scheduling and not taking Alabama way out by only scheduling lowly P5 or FCS teams.

Alabama's OOC schedule for the next few years:

2019 - Duke, Southern Miss, New Mexico State
2020 - Georgia State, Kent State, USC
2021 - Mercer, Miami, Southern MIss
2022 - Texas, Utah State
2023 - Texas, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky

Not to mention, they've only scheduled Georgia once in the next 7 years, which is 2020.

I get that. But I just like the effort in scheduling tough matchups and not taking the easy way out like many do.

Yup OK been doing it for years now. Honestly I can’t say I agree with it completely but having the playoff makes it more possible. Let’s see if more SEC teams start doing it.

Gotta be a sarcasm thread. Aggy's weak as fuck OOC schedule since they joined the SEC vastly inflated Sumlin's winning percentage before he got canned.....

This year's OOC slate for Georgia leaves a lot to be desired, but from 2019 on, we're gonna be played at least 2 P5 OOC games every season for the foreseeable future.(there's a 3 game series with Clemson where the dates aren't official, but I'm making educated guesses on them)

2019: Notre Dame, GT
2020: Virginia, GT
2021: CLemson. GT
2022: Oregon, GT
2023: Clemson, GT
2024: Clemson, GT
2025: UCLA, GT
2026: UCLA, GT

And there's a a home and home with Texas in the works, but it isn't official yet.

Right, and that is why some SEC people get all bent out of shape when their OOC schedule is questioned. I mean look, they have to play South Carolina, Vanderbilt, ole Miss, Kentucky, Mizzou, A&M!!!

But they do with their OOC schedule, which is the main point.

But you said Alabama didn't schedule Georgia until 2020. Alabama and Georgia don't decide what years they play each other in the regular season.

Yeah, we all heard the same shit last year and then two teams from the SEC played in the NCG.

I did. Read Hornsstampede's post. Aggy had to start scheduling tougher b/c SEC probably called them out, otherwise, they would still be scheduling shit OOC opponents.

Ok, but that was one point out of 5 or 6 others made about OOC scheduling.

Okay, and they did and they scheduled the toughest team they could this year. They schedule some top P5 teams. They are doing what other P5 teams should be doing and they are doing it for the next few years.

But in 2016, they scheduled UCLA when they were actually decent and ranked #16 in the country. 2015, they scheduled 15th ranked Arizona State, 2014. Meanwhile, Alabama was scheduling Mercer, Georgia State, FAU, Western Carolina and Louisiana-Monroe. Like, when does Alabama get called out for their weak scheduling?
