So I am having a nba and nhl pick ‘em on the site. And was hoping to award the top 3 of each week first 3k. Second 2k. And third 1k. But can someone tell me two things. First who do I need to tell to get that stuff to the respective members. And can someone tell me what are the top 3 prizes for winning contests on this site as for how much vcash I should award.

I know this question is a year old but i'll answer it anyway. The vcash add-on comes with an in-build function called Wallet. Whether Wallet is active or not depends on what the forum owner chooses in the settings. Wallet allows the forum owner to hand out vcash to any member individually at any time. I believe the forum owner can give this access to other staff members, which would allow them to do this for you rather than pester the site owner. I can't confirm this as i'm not a forum owner. I can confirm that there's an option to open the Wallet to all members, which when active means any member can give any other member any amount of their vcash at any time. Giving members vcash directly is the most effective way of dealing with prizes. However, the Wallet function isn't currently open to all members. Either you get admin, or staff if they're able, to give out prizes directly.

The alternative is to bypass them and sort out prizes yourself if you have Sportsbook privileges and you use the Sportsbook as a vcash tool. Doing this is potentially stepping on the toes of those who normally run the Sportsbook and he/they probably won't thank you for it, especially if they're stats concious and/or they're taking a vcash cut of the Sportsbook winnings. Handling prizes this way is much more time-consuming. With Sportsbook privileges you can create a 'membername bet here to collect your prize' event where there's only 1 betting outcome. If you do this you have to set a specific bet minimum and maximum, (same amount), at specific odds to generate the correct prize. From experience this amount should be close to the winning member's vcash total and set the auto-lock to 1 bet. If you don't and you make to $100 at 30/1, (+3000), for a $3K prize members will wait for the winning member to 'claim their prize' and then they'll be as well to see if they can get some free vcash - because it's fun to do it and it annoys the hell out of the person running it. Then you have to create another event. The better way to do this is through the Member Bets system since that now allows for different size wagers from each member. Obviously this means paying out everything from your stash with either pre or post event recompense by way of staff or through another Sportsbook event. From experience about 50% of weekly winners won't claim their prize, no matter how many times you tag/notify them. It's all wasted time and effort. Generally 1 weekly winner, split if necessary, is better than top 3 weekly prizes.

This post is intended as a 'How to' for anyone else thinking of running hoop.la tournaments for vcash.
