I guess my opinion on Martinez doesn't change at all....

I've been on facebook (probably a bad idea) and all these people are going crazy about how "Martinez sucks" and "Martinez lost the game single handedly."........I've noticed that people are no longer calling him T-Magic.

Really?? Because of this one game, these are the deductions we came away with?? That Taylor Martinez is now a washed up can't hackit??

Taylor Martinez is a Freshman for shit sake. This is how Freshman learn.........yea he made a lot of mistakes tonight........but it's good for him. It sucked for us, but it's good for him. As much as it hurt the team, in the long run it's going to benefit the kid.

I am still excited about Taylor's future here, but like I said the other day, I just really hope Taylor steps up and matures this offseason and comes back next year with none of this "so called drama" that we always hear about.

Overall, I personally made zero conclusions about Martinez tonight. I think this is something that we should have all seen coming.......this is really the first time that he has seen this much pressure, and he played just like a Freshman. He'll be fine.

By the way, Taylor was not even close to 100%...........I don't care what any of those coaches say. You could see the difference when Rex ran the zone-read compared to when Taylor ran it.

You are exactly right except after a full season Martinez should not have been making some of the mistakes he made over and over. I do not put that on Martinez' shoulders. You can have the best steak in the world and if the guy cooking it doesn't know what he's doing it will taste like shit.

He is still trying to do what probably worked in high school. Check your primary receiver and if he isn't open try to run the ball. He tried to force passes that had almost no chance of being caught (by our receiver) when we were in field goal range and had guaranteed points.

He should be coached on what to do in these situations and has not been. He is another highly touted recruit going to waste on our team where quarterbacks go to kill their careers.

Taylor has work to do in the passing game and his footwork needs work. If he can improve on his footwork and keeping his vison down field while the blitz is on then he can really make Nebraska offense dangerous.

Martinez will learn from his mistakes and get better as time goes on. I really hope the rumors of him leaving the team and the rumors about team-chemistry with Martinez are false, because he can really thrive with our offense (as long as he's healthy)..... Most importantly, as long as we get an Offensive Coordinator with some brains.

I said it last year, I said it through this year, and I'll say it again.... Sean Watson, as nice of a guy as he may be, is not fit for our offense. I don't even know if he would fit with any offense. He mad terribly bad play calls, and it was absolutely painful to watch. Someone in an other thread asked if he had the "authority" (over Pelini) to pull Martinez and put green in.... The answer is essentially yes... according to Pelini himself. When he pulled Martinez during the Texas game, during the post-game press conference, if I'm not mistaken, Pelini said that he respected Watson's call of pulling Martinez. He said that he lets Watson control the offense and does not interfere.

Just the simple fact that he kept giving Martinez the ball after multiple fumbles and an interception, ESPECIALLY when we got into field goal range.... that was the dumbest decision any OC could ever make. Burkhead was pounding the ball up the gut effortlessly in the wildcat. Why give the ball to a rattled, gimpy QB? We may never know.

I'm sorry if some of you have a false sense of security with Sean Watson up in the booth calling the plays. Nebraska Football was once known for being relavent in the national and Big XII picture. If we can't win a championship.... we are no longer relavent.

Just as Bo said... "Defense wins championships". I don't care how good a defense is.... you'll never win championships without a good offense.

It might be best that Taylor goes if Shawn Watson is shown the door. I believe that Bo will bring somebody in that wants a more balanced offense and I don't think Taylor makes smart decisions when he is being rushed. If we are not running the zone read, Taylor is an average quarterback (hence no other teams wanted him at quarterback).
