Horror story from 10-12 years ago... A buddy of mine was too afraid to grab the catfish but had it raised up off the ground with the pole. Barb let go of the fish as it was floppin around in the air and the fish landed on his foot. He was wearing flip flops... Barb lodged itself right into 1 of his toes...

That wasn't even the worst part...

The barb snapped off the fin into his foot. Had to get it removed by a doctor.

Makes my stomach churn just thinking about it.
That's fucking brutal....

Yeah. I'm just gonna shoot it if I catch one.

Several years ago I was out camping and fishing with 2 buddies at a private pond nearby that had good fishing and 10-20 lb. catfish. We bass fished during the day and then started a campfire and put bells on the catfish lines and had beers by the fire waiting for the bells to ring.

Well a few days later one of my buddies emailed us and asked if either of us had gotten poison oak from the trip. Turns out while in the brush gathering fire wood he had stumbled upon some poison oak. The worst part is that while unknowingly having poison oak on his hands he pissed multiple times.

Dude got poison oak all over his dick and had to go to the doctor because his junk had swelled up to the size of a soda can.

Thinking about making a trip to the legendary Susky to target some footballs. Probably run Duncannon through the Dauphin Narrows. Maybe take out at West Fairview? That's about 15 miles though. I'd have to pick my holes.

No Largemouth, lighting wasn't good when they took the pic
Ah. I wasn't sure from the picture. Even so, that's one hell of a fish for PA. I've caught a few LMB around 5lbs but nothing upwards of 6.

Just stuck my PB smallie last weekend at 19" and 4.3lbs. Which is decent for a smallie. Fought like a 23" 8lb LMB!

That's a nice smallie. Ounce for ounce, smallies are the hardest fighters in fresh water. This hog gave me quite a tussle in high river water on fly gear a couple of years ago:

Nice pig!

Smallies are awesome. Especially river smallies. Living in the current and all. Ornery bastards.

I've been tempted to break out my fly gear again and try to catch them on it. Sounds like fun.

Heading to Virginia to fish the legendary Briery Creek Lake and the Sandy River Reservoir in early June. Been wanting to do this for a while. From what I can tell it's a tough nut to crack (lots of people get skunked) but it's also home to some giants. Never been to Virginia other than driving through it on my way to Flordia.

Went on a little family vacation to Sunriver, OR. Fished the Deschutes River & Paulina Lake. Didn't catch anything out of the river, but we got into plenty of rainbows off the banks of the lake.
