The past week or two I ve heard it mentioned several times that the reason Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame and a handful of others appear to be in decline in large part due to the fact that when we were in our haydays we were the only programs on TV regularly.

I dont remember us getting anymore TV games than anyone else until after the "cable boom" In fact I remember being stoked when we would get more than 2 televised games in a season.

Yeah. In the 70's NU might have been on TV 3 times a year. Their OOC big name opponent, Oklahoma, and their bowl game.

Got to know Lyle Bremser real well down at the fishin' hole.

Didn't care for Kent, but when they brought in that new guy for the HWSNBN years I wanted him back.

It's just hard to beat the Bremser nostalgia.

He's just saying NU got more exposure in those years even though they were only on tv a few times a year.

In other words, smaller programs were on even less.

I think we still get alot to TV (and I'm not including B1G) even now. Nebraska is kinda love 'em or hate 'em type of team and still atracts alot of viewers.

back 10 or 15 years ago, probably only 5-10 games on every weekend. Now with Cable and conference network explosions, there has to be 20-25 games each weekend.
