I hated that 3rd and 2 call. Carson's been moving the ball so give it too him.

I did not like it but i totally understand what they were trying to do. That call caught me off guard a little because i just thought it would be a read option not some boot option. Had it worked thats one of those plays you look back on and say that took guts. Pissed me off a little when they did it but i TOTALLY understand what they were trying to do. Put the ball in Russell's or Lackett's hands, two of the best players on the team.

Tired of seeing WR running wide open all the time on this team and thats because most of the time it's a Linebacker trying to cover a crossing route. I know Pete loves Kendricks, KJ and Wags but man oh man you got to start playing that nickle a little more when the other team has 3-4 WR on the field, Mix it up more.

Yah that was fairly Mickey Mouse. I was thinking either pass it (because at that point the clock really didn't matter for the Rams - I think we all knew they were getting in field goal range) and if you don't have anything just take the sack (not going to affect Dickson's punt) or Wilson can take off if he sees it, or just pound it with Carson. Don't have Wilson basically just design run it with an option to pitch back to Lockett with no blocking? What?

My heart skipped when RW pitched it back. I was fully expecting that ball on the turf.

I would rather have seen a jet sweep to Lockett. That pitch back was way to dangerous at that point of the game.

Yeah man. Goff has the best trio of WRs and sliced them up when given time. For what ever reason they left Everett open all game. Defense needs these extra few days off to get it together.

Not gonna get easier with Landry/OBJ next week but fortunately that's really all we have to worry about. I don't expect Chubb to have much success against our ground defense. Gurley wasn't doing anything until Goff started to pass and even then outside of his first TD was pretty irrelevant the entire night (other TD was a 1 yard run, whatever).

I like our odds against Cleveland. Their rush defense has been suspect so Carson + Penny + Prosise (maybe?) should be able to clean up well. Cleveland's main strength so far has been Chubb, but again I don't expect him to do great on the ground... hopefully Collier gets more action since that was his strength in college. Gurley is a threat but not the same Gurley as early 2018. To me Chubb is a bigger threat atm.

Sorry, I missed the second paragraph. Agreed! The Rams have the best trio of WRs in the league so another CB would have been nice to see. Hawks got lucky they dropped a couple late in the game.

Yah I dunno what the 4-3 CONSTANT is all about. I get last year we were weak against the run but Clowney is probably the best rush defending 4-3 DE in the league and Al Woods is a DT run specialist. Plus LJ Collier's (who has been a ghost) strength in College was run defense (needed to work on pass rush defense).

I get you want to account for Gurley but Gurley IMO was never really a threat in this game. It was too much time for Goff and Kupp/Woods/Cooks. And sure enough that's what nearly beat us.

Now next week against the Browns where their main threat (outside of OBJ) is FAR AND AWAY Chubb AND it's a home game (they'll want to run and control the game/tempo plus settle Mayfield down since he's started out terribly), sure, run 4-3 all day.

Gruley seems to have become damaged goods. Not sure if McVay is holding him back for the stretch run or if this is what he is now. I think they can bottle up Chubb but they have to get pressure on Mayfield. It'll be a tough road game but I think they should get a W there.

The 6 man front was solid. Right before the second half when we went fucking prevent, is when Goff got it rolling. When we stepped off the throttle defensively is when the Rams moved the ball. Mix in some great calls by McVay and some missed tackles on our end and it turned out looking pretty sloppy. The Rams should have had 6 points going into half, that’s pretty solid D

True, but Goff is a FAR bigger threat with no pressure than Mayfield IMO. His receivers know how to get open and Goff is DEADLY accurate and progresses well/reads off defenders when he has time. Mayfield.. ehh... not so much. Stop Chubb, and that game should go favorably for us. Unlike this game where we seemed to want to run 4-3 all day (why? Gurley was not the threat IMO), we SHOULD be running 4-3 all day against the Browns, since outside of Landry/OBJ they have nobody else... and their TE we can cover with KJ. That probably means Ken Norton Jr. will run a dime or quarter package the entire game against Cleveland...

Solid points. Baker's seems easy to rattle so hopefully Hawks can get a couple of int's. They were close a few times tonight so it'll eventually even out and nab a few. Hopefully Chubb runs crazy on Monday so he's a bit tired next week.

Ooooh that's a good point. I forgot they play Monday. That means only 5 vs. 9 days of rest/preparation. No excuse to look sloppy. Least I have a vested interest in MNF this week (rooting for Cleveland obviously).

AND the 49ers DO have a stacked DL. Buckner/Bosa/Armstead (run)/Thomas (run)/Ford... it's going to be brutal to run against them (which sucks for us as well) so Chubb will probably take a lot of abuse.

Agreed! They have plenty of time to fix some of the wrongs and with Cleveland traveling back cross country this does set up Seattle nicely. That Niners front line is beast, so hopefully Shotty can get a good game plan when it's their turn to play them.

Emotion is taking control of my heart right now. It has been there before in 2011. This dragon has gotten the best of us the past three games we have played tonight

Let this call ring true. I know its hockey but still I think this analogy sticks.

Tedric Thompson plays the role of Alex Burrows.

Wilson was a beast today. Seriously ridiculous game. O was solid overall but they got lucky to get out of that with a W. Legatron makes that 90% of the time.

Also, if Goff and Wilson switched teams it would have been 52-6 LA. Goff is seriously terrible Seattle just could not get to him and was leaving guys wide open. Pass D needs some help. Whatever though, a win is a win.

Pretty underwhelming win, but a win is a win, I'll take it.

The penalty was kind of sour (the roughing on Mathews) but it wasn't like it was 3rd down and technically the Rams got away with a facemask on Lockett. I love the head ref: "Well in the old world that's incidental, so no call." Uh WTF? Incidental or not, a facemask in TODAY'S world is a 15 yarder. That head ref needs to get his brain checked.

Myers missed a lengthy field goal, GregZ did... kind of nets out. Really underwhelming Seattle couldn't close out the game after that amazing INT though.

Speaking of the INT... I wish they'd stop blowing the whistle on close calls like that whether it would be a fumble or INT... If that wasn't blown dead, Thompson got up and ran with the ball... Hawks would be closer to FG range and could've had a chance to put them up by 4...

Yep... God knows we've lost our share ofgames due to FG misses as well...

Also, it's time to seriously start talking about RW in MVP discussions... Dude is balling...

Another game we won pretty much because of RW. Some of those throws are just inconceivable, of course topped off by the TD to Lockett. I think there are probably no more than 2 other humans on the entire planet who could make that throw -- Mahomes & Rodgers. You could say we won because of "luck" with the missed FG, but our pro bowl level kicker missed one too that he probably makes way more often than he misses.

I think it's not been PC's best season with game management. You have a sledgehammer RB and attempt a 48 yarder into the problematic north ez there at the end of the 1st half instead of going for it on 4th & 1 and giving yourself a chance to a) go up 21-6 by finishing the drive with a TD *and* b) using the balance of the clock to keep a quick moving offense from being able to answer before the break? So instead of being aggressive, we try the draw-them-offside-by-not-snapping charade, miss the FG and give the Rams the best possible field position and most possible time remaining in that scenario....and they march down and score a TD. A 10 point swing there that could have been the difference in the game. He's also pretty fixated on challenging PIs, and I think we only have 1 come out in our favor so far. Maybe it's worth it in the right situation, but at some point we may need to realize the rate of success on those might indicate you're really just blowing a timeout (and wasting a challenge).

Any more comments on the game itself just take away from the QB clinic put on by Russell. 4-1 and on to Cleveland!

Well the year Cam won it Wilson should have, Wilson actually should have 2 MVP awards all ready to be honest but the talking heads NEVER give Wilson the credit he is Due. He does more for the Hawks than ANY OTHER QB does for their team.

Agreed... Unfortunately, RW will probably get overshadowed by Patrick Mahomes... That's why RW needs to be taken seriously by the talking heads when it comes to the MVP discussion... He's arguably have his BEST season yet so far...
