Do you people clearly not see the pattern here?
Do we sign many big name free agents during the offseason? NO
What has our draft grade been over the last decade??????? B+ (I'll copy and past bleacher report ranking below. )
This machine is being built from the inside out, not from the outside in. That is why year after year we are winning the draft, we are winning in the cap space department and more importantly, we are winning on the field. Your Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff is THE BEST qualified staff in the league to develop this vast and steady supply of talent that our scout team has recruited! Thanks largely in part to Master Scout Pete Brown, who spends countless hours reviewing a vast supply of VHS tapes on a weekly basis. Is this the most high tech system? Maybe not. Is it the most efficient system?? I think the results speak for themselves. Or better yet, ask Jerry Jones!
Grading Every NFL Team's Draft Performance of the Past Decade | Bleacher Report
Bengals specifics:
Total Picks: 90
Best Player: Carson Palmer, quarterback, first overall pick in 2003
Worst Pick: Chris Perry, running back, 26th overall in 2004
Best Value: Geno Atkins, defensive tackle, 120th overall pick in 2010
First Round Busts: Chris Perry; David Pollack (2005); Keith Rivers (2008)
Overall Grade: B+
The core of the Bengals' roster is comprised of players drafted by this organization, which is the main factor in this team slowly gaining traction in the AFC North. Top-end talent such as A.J. Green, Andy Dalton and Leon Hall, mixed in with a number of mid-round value picks, gives Cincinnati a high grade here.
