Kobe thrived after Shaq left and Shaq had 3-4 more solid seasons after he left the Lakers.....

How many more titles could they have won IF Kobe became the #1 and Shaq the OG #2?

Vote and discuss.

I voted 1. Shaq was starting to decline, he was able to get 1 more with D-Wade, then fell off a cliff. No reason to think it would have been different with Kobe.
I went with 2.

Shaq had 4 more seasons of at least 17ppg and as a #2 to Kobe I think that would have been pretty solid and I think they would have found the role players they needed to surround them.

Zero.

Phil was done. The run was over.
BS.

Kobe was all of 26 after Shaq left and won a few with a guy like Pau. As he became a #1 you telling me he couldn't have won with Shaq as his #2 for 4 more years. Shaq was still posting solid numbers for a big guy with the Suns. They would have found the right guys to fit the offense and win a few more.

Convince me they couldn't!!!!

The season after Shaq left?

Kobe, Odom, and a bunch of nobodies won 45 games and lost in the first round against a loaded Suns team. Pushed them to 7 games.

Well they lost to Detroit with Phil.

Why would I think they would’ve beat them the next year without him?

We're assuming Kobe would have transitioned to being the #1 option and Shaq deciding to take a backseat as a #2 in this scenario. I thought I had made that clear.

Plus, the Pistons lost to the Heat in the ECF the following year.

False

They lost to the Spurs in game 7 of the finals. The following year was Miami

Unless you mean the following year after 2005. Lol

No they didn’t.

Big Shot Bob took em down in Game 7 of the Finals.

The Lakers won 34 games that year. Since they lost Fischer, Shaq and Phil.

If they stayed together because they figured out how to play together I would say two or three. If they say together just because that was the only thing they could do, I would say one because of talent alone along with Phil Jackson. And when I say play together, I don’t mean something crazy like Kumbaya, I just mean something realistic but optimal. I think they could’ve been in Detroit if they were 100% healthy and played together better, including Malone.

When creating this poll.....my original thought was 3 but I backed off to 2 because nothing is ever perfect and there would have been a transition on Kobe becoming the #1 option and Shaq sliding to the #2 but I think they could have figured it out......and they would have kept guys like Fox, Fisher, Payton and Malone (for 1 more season and he was decent when he was healthy) plus whatever free agents they needed to sign.....and Phil would have done his Yoda tricks to make it happen.
