Can Jackie Smith do the same in Dallas?

IIRC they came back and won a SB from PIT so would say yes.

Didn't Georgetown have a kid blow a national championship basketball game and they came back and won it...I'm sure they let that kid off the hook for blowing the previous one.

It largely depends on how long the team had to wait to get over the hump after the blunder lol...for instance...you and I might get a dinner table at a busy restaurant in PIT faster than Neal O'Donnell would, but they would eventually seat him.

Was j/k. Yes - Freddy Brown was the Georgetown player you are referring to (he blindly passed the ball directly to Worthy that sealed their win) & John Thompson went out of his way to embrace him the following year when they won the National Championship.

personally, they've already made it farther than i thought they would this year. i figured that ridiculous choke job in the super bowl was going to ruin them this season.

having said that, the only way they can redeem themselves for that game would be to win the SB

Obviously . The question is not how you erase it. That's impossible. It's how far do they need to get for you to think they overcame it's memory

They will NEVER be able to overcome the memory of that game.... It will be impossible.. A Super Bowl win this year will ease the memory but it will never go away no matter how many Ships the win

If they win the superbowl this year then the sting of last year will be pretty much gone to fans and players (except the ones that played for the Falcons last year but are not on the team this year--they will probably be scarred by last years Superbowl forever). In 1964 the Phillies had a 7 game lead in the NL with about 12 games to play and they ended up blowing it. I was not even alive in 1964 but as a kid I remember people bitching about that season all the way through the late 70's until, mercifully they won the World Series in 1980. You didn't hear much about '64 after that, but that must have been a long 16 years for the people that were around to see them choke that lead away.
So hopefully for Falcons fans they win a Superbowl sooner rather than later. (unfortunately for them, it's not happening this year since the Eagles are about to upset them)

In order for you to think they overcame last year's SB choke job?

NFC title game? Super Bowl ?Or do they need to win the SB? Interested in what the board thinks would be satisfactory

I would have said NFCCG, but I guess not now.
