Because the system itself is jacked up.

It needs to be completely overhauled.

I know Atkins is out, but you think he would have received a vote or two, no Dunlap or Johnson, no Burfict. Kinda crazy.

Fucking idiots, that's why. He gets stupid penalties but he always seems to get them by playing hard, not dirty. Big difference. I love the kid. He is the heart of that defense.

I don't like the penalties, but I also understand that a few of those type of penalties from time to time give us a hardcore mental edge. The WR, RB, QB...they start hearing footsteps, they start to panic a little more and may screw up by releasing ealry, taking their eyes off balls before caught, etc. It gives us that bad boy edge a little, kinda like Oakland used to have. That hard hitting defense, that black and silver, personal fouls, etc. Offenses feared that defense, not because they were great, because you just never know when you are goign to get killed.

I like a little of that edge without the extreme like Oakland used to be. Burfict is a stud. We finally found that LB in all these Marvin Lewis years who can be that guy that resembles Ray Lewis a bit. Hard core, edgy, a true defensive leader, and motivational leader.

This is probably true. The extent of knowledge for most common football fans stops on the offensive side of the ball..... Blame fantasy football.

In order to get noticed as a linebacker you need to be an anomaly -- Like a white guy named Kiko.

How long did it take for most people to realize that Atkins is one of the best DT's in the game? We knew it for a while. It was really only after he got his extension that fans outside of Cincy knew who he was.

We all know Burfict is awesome. I could care less if he doesn't win some popularity contest. If anything, that might help him continue to keep that chip on his shoulder that he plays with.

Exactly. In fact, it could be argued that we are better off if none of our under the radar but good
players get Pro Bowl nods. It's just another bargaining chip for their agents come contract time.

Does anyone here actually watch the Pro Bowl? It's just a paid vacation to Hawaii for those who go.
