He just moved into 4th place on the all-time rushing list yesterday.

Who do you rank comparable to him? Just curious to see where he stands in your eyes as an all time RB.

Dude, that was exactly what I was thinking

The major difference is Martin got out a year after he went from great to good. Gore is going on year 4 of being good. I am curious to see if the end of year compiling helps him get into the Hall.

Somewhere between 20th - 30th all time...

At first I was going to rainbow you, then I actually looked at a list of all the great runners of all time, and you might be right. Initially I thought somewhere in the late teens, but there's some quality runners behind him that much better peak years. I'm not sure how that factors in, since Gore has mostly had longevity on his side.

I had a debate with a buddy about a year ago. He was on Gore’s side, I wasn’t.

Always stellar never elite.

He finished in the top 10 in rushing yards 5 times.
2006 - 3rd
2011 - 6th
2012 - 10th
2013 - 9th
2014 - 9th

He finished in the top 10 in TD’s only twice.
2009 - 10th
2013 - 8th

He was just a solid back for quite a long time, never flashy or spectacular just a good back. He had one great season and was a decent receiver.

1,000 should not be the standard for respectability. In today's game that's just 62 yards per game. It should be 1,200 and I think he only had two of those seasons.

I also don't put much weight on where they finished for rushing yards for the year or td's too many factors involved to use that as a comparison tool.

I think my original thought was about right somewhere between 20 - 30.

I have to admit I thought about Curtis Martin as well but I think Gore is a pretty big step down from C-Mart...

As a runner he is barely above average year by year...

But his career is all about longevity...

He is also known to be one of the best blocking running backs(not full back) of all time...

so he is very hard to quantify...

agreed, Martin was also a compiler, but he at least had seasons as a top 5 RB(statistically), Gore never really did...

As Gore was never top 5 in TDs, and was only top 5 ONCE in Rushing yards and Yards from scrimmage

I think the fact that he had arguably his best season at age 31 shows just how good he was.

How can he be overrated, if literally no one is talking about him being an all-time great? Steady runner, who's had a long career, if unspectacular. I even put him lower on my list than I would have initially thought.

Don't worry though Josh Gordon gonna be a Niner soon and I'm already looking how to spend my v-cash from our bet. LOL.

You can have that dope smoking thug. Apparently, he injured his hamstring during a photoshoot.

Puuussssay.

But seriously Gore is one of the best blocking backs of all time. He is about durability and longevity. So yeah not really overrated but in terms 4th on the rushing list that is all longevity

Also have to factor in his horrific knee injuries in College. Dude should have never made it this far, for sure. He was also a good receiver too, but for some reason Harbaugh kind of cut that out in his era and his targets just dropped in half.

I think the biggest problem with comparing players is that there are 2 questions

1. Who had the better career
2. Who was better

I feel like we all answer question 2 instead of question one... even when the question 1 is more important...
