When reading about players from generations before us, it can sometimes be difficult to pronounce certain player's names. Now I'm a young fellow, so even names from the '80s I am not 100% certain how to pronounce all the time. This is a thread to post the pronunciations of names that we don't know. You can give a couple of names that you know yourself, and also ask for pronunciations of players you don't know.

Pronunciations

Dan Brouthers- Dan "Broothers"
Kiki Cuyler- "Ky ky Kyler"
Nap Lajoie- Different pronunciations. I go with "Laj uh way" but I think technically it's more proper to say "La zu way"
Red Schoendienst- Red "Shane Deenst"

Any others you guys got?

No, I'm positive on Kiki. Lajoie is pronounced a plethora of ways, including "la hoy," but I think La Ja Way or La Za Way are more generally used

How do you pronounce Lou Boudreau? I always have said "Ba Drew" but I don't know that that's right.

Maikel Franco now wants to be "My Kel Franco" (rhyming with Andres Blanco) instead of "Franko," which he went by last year

Not as bad as Joey Belle who wanted his first name pronounced "al bert" after his first few years in the league.

Took me having to listen to Cubs announcers to get "Al-con-truh" through my head because I want to say "Al-can-TAR-ra".

Ch-ip Ha-le.

Confusing, I know.
I was having trouble with his name last season, thanks for clearing that up.
Almost as difficult as An-dy Gr-een.

Obviously no one here is an Indians fan, since there's a website addressing this

It's Pronounced "Lajaway"

And yes, Kiki is pronounced "Kye kye". Better than "Hazen" or "Shirley", at least.
