that many playoff home dates and they lose money? I guess at least the scalpers made alot of money

One consequence: Season ticket prices will increase by an average of 20 percent this fall, which is projected to rocket them from the second-cheapest in the National Hockey League three seasons ago to among the 10 most expensive, according to the team. And fans should expect "more modest" increases in the future, team owner Rocky Wirtz said

Looks like the owners are already starting to get "the books" ready for the next possible lockout in two years...

What a crock of shit.
They are saying they lost money after all the extra revenue from the Stanley Cup winning run and being damn near the highest in attendence.
Anyone have info on ticket prices last year?

yah maybe ... but i think the article is just a laundry list of weak sauce trying to rationalize the tickets price increases this year and going forward

"professionalizing management" ... thats some big bucks there !!!

they're already pretty high in ticket prices...i mean it's chicago, one of the biggest cities in the league, there's NO WAY they lost money. i guess they could've when they had to pay out all their incentives to players and money for breaking the rules and whatnot. still, that has to be a lie...or they're paying their execs wayyyy to much money.

I'm sure you already know this JStew, but a lot of times companies have two accountants.....one to show them what really happened and one to show the IRS that they lost money.....I'm guessing this is a case of the latter.

:D

I am sure that with revenue sharing the Blackhawks "lost" less than they would have "lost" otherwise, but its not a cure all.

I have doubts that the Blackhawks actually "lost" money though.

They are getting good at hockey. The better you play, the more goals you score. The more goals you score, the more money you have to pay the band that sings that shitty song.
