Halak has to be making them feel it bad, so far he's been a top 5 goalie. Carey Price leaves a lot to be desired. Id be pretty damn upset if I was a Habs fan right about now even with my team leading the division.

I don't think very. So far all is well, at least for me and for what I read about other Montreal fans. Of course Carey Price starting well helps.

More concerned about the Habs offense than goal tending.

Talk to me later on in the season, if Price falters and/or if Eller never finds his game I can see people being bitter.

According to Bobby Mac, at the trade deadline last year teams were still more interested in Price than they were Halak. According to his sources teams still seemed to to think that the better goalie long term was going to be Price. Its only after the playoffs and sucess that I was surprised that Montreal dealt him. I wouldn't have been surprised at the deadline last year at all.

Some also wonder if the Habs were fed up with Halak's agent.

I wish Halak all the best, he is a great team player and a good goalie. Though not predicting it I still wouldnt be amazed if Price has a better career than Halak.

No big deal, its not like Montreal gave away a proven winning and franchise goalie for a bucket of garbage only to see him win multiple championships later on.

Remember, Price is a lot younger than Halak too, and goalies can take a while to develop. Lars Eller has all the tools to be a stud as well. I think it'll be at least three years before we can truly judge this trade.

I think it was pretty much inevitable that no matter which goalie they decided to trade, the move would be second-guessed at some point, and that the goalie that remained in Montreal would be under intense scrutiny.

I think Halak handles St. Louis better than Price would of. That is helping make it look like a raw deal, imo.

honestly I dont know about that

I think if Price was the one dealt he probably would have flourished in ST Lou just as much as Halak has to date because he'd be away from all that crazy media in Montreal

I'm a big Carey Price fan (mainly because of the big saves he made in the shootout against the US in the WJHC gold medal game) and I wish the media and rabid Montreal fans would lay off the kid (I know it's not going to happen). He's off to a fine start this season.

It so far has been a win/win. I just think it helps that all that SportsHoopla didn't really follow Halak like it would have Price. (other than 5k showing up at an autograph signing/sendoff party) He's had a chance to sit back and play some hockey.

Price would probably like that too, but he has been in the center of it all for so long now. There's bound to be part of him that wants to accept some of these challenges that are constantly thrown at him.

I've seen Price play somewhere between 10 and 15 times in junior and the guy is a phenomenal goaltender. I'm not sure what's been ailing him the last couple years, if it's something mental or physical, but he didn't put up crummy numbers due to a lack of skillset. When Price is on, he can steal a game with the best of them. I think longterm, Montreal made the right choice keeping Price. He's already started the year stronger than a lot of people predicted.

I'm bitter that the Sharks didn't grab him instead of doling out $2mil contracts to Niittymaki and Niemi. I've been very happy with Niitty's play so far, but I'd rather have Halak at his price than these two. As they pretty much hinted that they wanted Halak, but not for that price.....2+2=4 still right?
